3rd GUENOC CHARDONNAY 2019
CS Fresh The Star Vista, Singapore
BRIEF: “Born in 1888, Guenoc (GWEN-NOK) wines are inspired by a sense of place and guided by our independent spirit. With each vintage, we endeavor to create premium crafted wines of pure varietal character, made our way in the far reaches of the west. Distinctly California, our wines highlight the fruit from our favorite vineyards in the Golden State. Our Chardonnay is crafted to express balanced notes of apricot, pear, peach and vanilla. For the explorers at heart, pair this wine with a creamy wild mushroom risotto.” SOOT’S TAKE: There wasn’t a mushroom risotto but it paired well with my lunch of spaghetti aglio olio and it made for easy drinking apart from comestibles.
4th SPY VALLEY RIESLING 2019
Cold Storage Jelita, Singapore
A lovely, clean tasting Riesling. No regrets.
5th 2021 WEINHAUS RESS RIESLING, RHEINGAU, GERMANY
SQ 021, Newark - Singapore
BRIEF: “Weingut Ress was founded in 1870 by the Rheingau hotelier Balthasar Ress. This important German wine estate today is run by Stefan and Christian Ress, who represent the fourth and fifth generations of the founding family. They are a quality producer specialising in Riesling - the great grape of Germany. Summer was long and hot, but Ress has managed to make a delightful off-dry Riesling, a little fuller and more rounded than usual, with rich peach and baked apple fruit lightly touched by honey.” SOOT’S TAKE: A nice balance between sweet and dry. Good job, Ress.
6th 2021 WEINHAUS RESS RIESLING, RHEINGAU, GERMANY
SQ 28, SIN - SEA
BRIEF: “Weingut Ress was founded in 1870 by the Rheingau hotelier Balthasar Ress. This important German wine estate today is run by Stefan and Christian Ress, who represent the fourth and fifth generations of the founding family. They are a quality producer specialising in Riesling – the great grape of Germany. Summer was long and hot, but Ress has managed to make a delightful off-dry Riesling, a little fuller and more rounded than usual, with rich peach and baked apple fruit lightly touched by honey.” SOOT’S TAKE: This would make a decent dessert wine.
7th COPPERSTONE CREEK CHARDONNAY 2021
Ben's Independent Grocer @ Publika, Kuala Lumpur
BRIEF: “In the crisp night air, selected parcels of fruit are harvested at optimal maturity to retain the characteristics that make Australian Chardonnay so popular. Straw yellow in colour, this wine immediately invites you to experience the abundance of tropical, peach and citrus flavours evident on the nose. The palate won't disappoint either showing generous stone fruit flavours with an elegant backbone to the wine's long and fruitful finish. Enjoy upon release.” SOOT’S TAKE: Deliciously buttery and such a steal for under 10 USD. Perfect with my personal-sized pizza.
8th BLASÓN DE ALGARÍA BLANCO
Giant @ IMM, Singapore
A most drinkable dry white for under $10 that went perfectly with some leftover #7 from Plank Sourdough Pizza.
9th ME BY MATAHIWI ESTATE PINOT GRIS 2021
Aurum Mestika Sejati Pte. Ltd., Singapore
“Pear and ginger on the nose?” I dunno, but delish with my cheddar & truffle omelet.
10th JAMIESONS RUN BILLY’S SHADOW CHARDONNAY 2021
CS Fresh The Star Vista, Singapore
I’m going to assume that Billy is/was the human and that the shadow is/was his dog. Stone-fruity and pairs nicely with my truffle Mac & Cheese.
11th BELLAMICO PINOT GRIGIO DELLE VENEZIE 2020
Redmart, Singapore
Fruity yet dry. Perfect with my kitchen sink pizza.
12th HHW GRU GRUNER VELTLINER
Hahndorf Hill Winery, Hahndorf
Hahndorf Hill's Gruner Veltliner was rated the best in the world outside of Austria at the 2013 Falstaff international Gruner Veltliner Tasting in Vienna. The citrus and nectarine flavours of the wine complement the fruit flavours of the chocolate. AGREED.
13th LOUREIRO VINHO VERDE
MoVida, Melbourne
A fruity Portuguese white to begin the afternoon with Kristina Nina.
14th JOSEPH RISS RIESLING 2018
Sheng Siong Supermarket, Singapore
An Alsace Riesling to accompany some leftover croque monsieur. It knocked me out.
15th LE MONTALUS BLANC CÔTES DE THAU 2020
Sheng Siong Supermarket, Singapore
This was on sale and I got this mainly to cook with but I also enjoyed it as a libation. It’s dry, bright and refreshing.
16th SERENGETI CHOROA THE HERD CHENIN BLANC 2019
Giant Express, Singapore
Deliciously crisp and juicy Swartland wine. I’ll have to pay greater attention to the tropical guava and passion fruit flavors on my next sip but perfect with my French onion grilled cheese.
17th NOBLESSE CHARDONNAY 2020
Redmart, Singapore
Did I get the pineapple? Nope! Did I get the vanilla? Nada! But t’was a delicious Chilean Central Valley chard.
19th TEMPUS TWO SILVER SERIES PINOT GRIS 2019 RV
NUSS Mandalay Guild House, Singapore
Crisp and just perfect on a breezy evening on the patio of a 1930s black and white bungalow. 🪴
21st SANTA JULIA CHARDONNAY 2019

Excellent Chardonnay to go with the leek carbonara I made and for which I also got the wine.
22nd ALAMOS SELECCIÓN SAUVIGNON BLANC
Chona, Puerto Madryn
It was the house pour, and like so many wines I had in Argentina, it was generously served and super decent.
24th LIL’ RASCAL® PINOT GRIS
Meijer, Urbana
Yes, it’s in a can. But it’s actually pretty good and it supports the HSUS.
25th VINA MAIPO 2014 SAUVIGNON BLANC-CHARDONNAY
B Lab Verve Suite, Kuala Lumpur
Winding down with a sauvignon blanc-chardonnay blend.
PRETTY GOOD
27th CAPE DREAMS CHARDONNAY 2023
CS Fresh The Star Vista, Singapore
Happy National Drink Wine Day. It don’t hurt to chill out with something that comes from a place called The Valley of Wines and Roses.
28th TEMPUS TWO SILVER SERIES 2022 PINOT GRIS
Village Grocer @ 1 Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur
BRIEF: “Our Silver Series elevates everyday drinking. Lifted floral aromas, citrus fruits and a crisp, refreshing finish.” SOOT’S TAKE: Did not enjoy this as much as I did the glass I ordered at the Mandalay Guild House more than 2 years ago.
29th BAR DOG CHARDONNAY 2021
Meijer, Urbana
BRIEF: “My Best Friend...Bar Dog Companion, partner, "bone-vivant”. Always by my side. In my kitchen or at my dog-friendly bar until it is time to go. Like Bar Dog, we love this wine unconditionally. So will you. We proudly donate to local animal rescues across North America.” SOOT’S TAKE: A decent chard that goes a long way for under $12.
30th RIESLING
Ivar's Salmon House, Seattle
I don’t know why I assumed it would be dry but it wasn’t.
