AMAZING
1st PUMPKIN CROISSANT
L'Appartement 4F, New York
This is so lightly flakey, buttery, and so stuffed with a delicious pumpkin spice filling, that not only did I have to post it on Eaten cause I knew you all (or most) would appreciate it, but it is so decadent I think it should be outlawed! đŸ€€đŸ«
2nd CROISSANT
L’Appartement 4F, USA
So light, flaky & buttery! Baked just a few hours ago. Fantastic!
3rd CROISSANT
L'Appartement 4F, New York
I see I already put one on the amazing list from L’Appartement4F! That one was from the chef’s actual apartment and was rich & buttery. This one is buttery, but lighter & a little more crackly. I had a chocolate-filled one the other day & it was a marvel of light, airy crackles. They keep adding more bakers & I guess everyone has a slightly different style. Maybe it’s also partly the weather. All the croissants were very good, though!
REALLY GOOD
4th OREGON CROISSANT WITH LOCAL BERRIES AND HAZELNUT CREAM
Ken's Artisan Bakery, Portland
Big, huh?! Deeply tasty Oregon berries over hazelnut cream baked into a buttery croissant. I ate it all easily!
5th BAKLAVA CROISSANT
Bien Cuit, New York
Flakey buttery layers of dough that delicately crunch when you bite into it. Pillowy dough inside &, if that’s not enough, there’s moist homemade baklava inside that! Bien Cuit’s description: “The dough is filled with walnuts, almonds, pistachios, white chocolate, & crunchy fieulletine. Perfectly brushed with honey, allspice & rose water, & topped with pistachios.” The coating was subtle in flavor, sweetness & gooeyness. In short, it all went together really well.
6th MATCHA CROISSANT
Stumptown Coffee Roasters, New York
Made by Supermoon Bakehouse. Light & flakey & moist after a quick toaster oven reheat. And very green! No, it’s not St. Patrick’s Day🍀! I was very happy when I got to the matcha pudding hidden in an inside corner. Good accompanied by #greeneggsnoham. #chives #peashoots #organicegg #boroughhalllgreenmarket #parsleyplant #tinyavocados #traderjoes #parmigiano #formaggio
7th SOURDOUGH CROISSANT
Coffee Project NY, New York
Light, flakey, moist & a little chewy. Tasty, too, although I’d need a side-by-side comparison to detect what the sourdough adds. It’s from Roberta’s, who’s known for her amazing pizza here in Brooklyn.
PRETTY GOOD
8th ALMOND CROISSANT
Dominique Ansel Bakery, New York
I was expecting amazing from the reviews. It was dense & a little chewy, maybe from walking outside with it in the humidity. It didn’t have the light crispy layers I expect a croissant to have. The flavor was good though. I liked the marzipan in the middle.
