ANGEL COOKIES
Carmelite Monastery, Bacolod
Angel Cookies are a unique delicacy baked by contemplative nuns in the Philippines. These cookies are special because they are made from host cuttings—the leftover trimmings from communion wafers (the bread used in Catholic Mass). Instead of discarding these pieces, the nuns repurpose them into cookies by mixing them with flour, margarine, sugar, and other simple ingredients.
