AMAZING
1st MAC DADDY
Mr. P’s Grilled Cheese, WI 53156
Oh my goodness… a crunchy sandwich bread toasted to perfection on a panini press filled with ultra creamy macaroni and cheese. Add in mozzarella and cheddar cheese to boot, and this is an absolutely gooey and delicious sandwich!!! Wow!
2nd BUFFALO CHICKEN PANINI
Out & Out, Cedarburg
Out & Out never ceases to amaze me with their creative specials, and this tender, Buffalo coated, cheddar filled panini is no exception. Absolutely delightful!
REALLY GOOD
3rd BBQ PULLED PORK PANINI
Out & Out, Cedarburg
Wow!! Such juicy and tender pork, and a very flavorful BBQ sauce. Perfect thickness on the bread, and the cheese brings this home. Another incredible weekly special from Out & Out!
4th SOO-EE!
Mr. P’s Grilled Cheese, WI 53156
The panini grill marks add more texture and buttery crunch to a gooey sandwich with cheddar and muenster that also features tender and salty ham with a medium thickness smoky bacon. This is a very good grilled cheese sandwich from a food truck!
5th CROQUE MADAME
Black Sheep MKE, Milwaukee
A nice slice of sourdough topped with whole grain mustard, beer cheese mornay, savory pulled ham, fontina cheese, and runny sunnyside eggs! The ham is the perfect amount of salty and meshes the flavors of this together perfectly. I would have liked a touch more salt in the mornay, but this was a wonderful plate of brunchfare!
6th GRILLED HAM & MUENSTER
Shorty’s Grilled Cheese, 53202
Sometimes you just crave the basics, and this gooey glob of Muenster satisfies that perfectly. Simple concept, executed very well with local, fresh, clean ingredients.
PRETTY GOOD
7th MEATBALL SUB
Cousins Subs, Port Washington
It really is a shame this sandwich isn’t toasted, because the meatballs are actually so great (especially from a fast food chain!) that they carry an otherwise unremarkable set of ingredients to being pretty good. Soft and tender meatballs combined with mediocre marinara, provolone, and bread makes for a fine quick meal, but oh my gosh how much I’d love to know what some extra salt and TLC to the rest of this sandwich would do…
8th FRENCH DIP
MJ's Bar and Grill, Saukville
Absolutely tasty, hard to put down! Great flavor in the meat and cheese, au jus is a bit lacking in flavor though (and my serving had a pile of garlic at the bottom), though the bread is a bit plain and doughy
9th CHICKEN PARM PANINI
Foltz Family Market / Commission Row Produce, Milwaukee
A solid panini overall: a very crunchy bread (perhaps a bit too crispy for the roof of my mouth) with great flavor, tender fried chicken (that I wanted more of), and a decent marinara that would have been welcomed if more was added. Plus, a solid cheese pull from the melted mozzarella!!
10th OPEN-FACE MEATBALL SANDWICH
The Pasta Shoppe, Port Washington
Served on a cheesy garlic bread base, this sandwich is dripping (swimming?) in marinara. The marinara is not great. The melted mozzarella is exquisite, especially the browned bits on the edge. The meatballs are delightful, but not cut into small enough pieces for a sandwich.
JUST OK
11th MEATBALL MARINARA
Subway, Saukville
Perfectly fine fast food. Marinara is bland, ordering with salt helps. Provolone and pepperoni additions bring some added flavor. Nothing crazy or special here, just passable.
12th BBQ CHICKEN WRAP
Out & Out, Cedarburg
A lackluster weekly special from the lovely folks at Out & Out. This could have been a lot better if it was hot instead of cold. Missed the mark a bit here, though the individual flavors were there.
