2nd LITTLE RIPPLES. CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2018 COONAWARRA
CS Fresh The Star Vista, Singapore
Quite a delish lo-cal, minimally sulphuric wine to decompress with and why not feel obnoxiously smug about providing 1 human with a yearā€™s worth of potable water while weā€™re at it? šŸ·āž”ļøšŸ’§
3rd ALTANO DUORO BIOLƓGICO 2020
Cold Storage Jelita, Singapore
BRIEF: ā€œIntense, garnet colour. This Altano Organic is beautifully scented, with floral and ripe red fruit aromas. On the palate, the wine shows excellent structure and balance and the fruit is fresh and focused. The elegant long finish denotes the balance afforded by the perfect acidity. This wine is made with 100% organically grown grapes from the family's vineyards.ā€ SOOTā€™S TAKE: Lovely on the nose and on the palate. Clean tasting. I enjoyed this as much as I enjoyed their other tinto, if not more. Hats off to the Symingtons for (literally) making it in Portugal.
4th ALTANO TINTO 2019
CS Fresh The Star Vista, Singapore
Got this personal sized bottle for $8. One of the cleanest tasting reds Iā€™ve had in recent memory.
5th LES MOUGEOTTES CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2019
Sheng Siong Supermarket, Singapore
Lovely sipping wine šŸ· at under $5/personal sized bottle.
6th COMBE ROCHER RƉSERVE SYRAH 2020
Sheng Siong Supermarket, Singapore
A smooth red with dark berry undertones. One of the better reds Iā€™ve had in a while.
7th COLLETT LANE SINGLE VINEYARD CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2013
Woodstock Wine Estate, McLaren Flat
PRUNES are what Iā€™m getting with a whiff of this wine I purchased during a wine tasting at a South Australian vineyard. I also remember the accompanying live and impromptu guitar music from my pourer although I definitely did not get the impression of prunes 5 years ago.

10th ALARIS MALBEC
Tancat, AAG
I loved the abundance and affordability of good wine in šŸ‡¦šŸ‡· but what really impressed upon me that night about this resto was its retro ambience. šŸ’•šŸ·šŸ’• #mood
PRETTY GOOD
11th 2016 CHƂTEAU MARJOSSE, ENTRE DEUX MERS, BORDEAUX
SQ 021, NewarkĀ -Ā Singapore
BRIEF: ā€œIt's not so much the precise location of the vineyard that matters here, but the name of the proprietor and winemaker - Pierre Lurton, presiding genius at two of Bordeaux's most fabled chĆ¢teaux- the awesome red Saint-Ɖmilion Cheval Blanc, and the supreme sweet white d'Yquem. Marjosse is where Pierre lives, almost midway between the two properties. The vineyard is in fact on a fantastic site, a clay and limestone plateau high above the river Dordogne, with some of its soil surprisingly similar to Saint-Ɖmilion. If this is what Pierre drinks at home, it's impressive. Beautifully balanced, wearing a light covering of oak sweetness over dry ripe fruit that is just starting to suggest raspberry and blackcurrant, and subtly scented with mint.ā€ SOOTā€™S TAKE: Pierre has decent taste in vin.
12th DOMAINE LEVERT BARAULT MERCUREY 1ER CRU ā€œCLOS DES BARRAULTSā€ 2012
Soots Cook Nook, Private
Had to filter the sediment out of this after leaving and almost forgetting about the bottle for 7 years. Thankfully it still tasted fine. Will apply the rest to some tinto de verano.
13th GRENACHE SHIRAZ DRY 21
Leppington Valley Farm, Leppington
Quite possibly my first all-natural PF homemade wine, legacy of Vittorio Marando who brought traditional farming and wine making practices from his native Calabria to this side of the antipodes. I was hoping to meet Signor Vittorio but alas, I was 3 years too late.

Post (first attempt @) kueh lapis legit (KLL) libation before I find out if the KLL gods have smiled upon or cackled at yours truly? šŸ™„ *For anyone wanting to try their hand at cake baking, this is NOT the cake to start with šŸ„¹šŸ˜šŸ·šŸ·šŸ·šŸ·šŸ˜¹
15th 2014 CHƂTEAU FONGABAN, CASTILLON - CƔTES DE BORDEAUX, FRANCE
LH 430, FRAĀ -Ā ORD
ā€œCastillon has a similar terroir of limestone and clay soils as its famous neighbour Saint-Emilion. This is ideal for Merlot, which, in addition to a little Cabernet, sets the tone in this cuvĆ©e, giving the wine a juicy character with elegant berry fruit and bright freshness.ā€
16th CƔTES DU RHƔNE VƍLLAGES 2018
Marks & Spencer, Singapore
A very drinkable red. I agree that itā€™s smooth and juicy, and maybe brimming with dark cherry, maybe even plum? šŸ¤Ø The black pepper and spice notes just arenā€™t happening for me though.
17th RASTRAS MALBEC 2019
Marks & Spencer, Singapore
Not bad, but maybe not the best accompaniment to the grilled cheese I made.
18th ITALIAN RED WINE
Saizeriya Star Vista, Singapore
Itā€™s two buck Chuck-ish but hey it ainā€™t bad for under $4.

21st 2015 CLARENDELLE
SQ 35, Los Angeles - Singapore
Velvety and deep Boreaux. Iā€™m not sure I experienced ripe blackberries, violets (what does that smell or taste like even?) or cedar, but one can dream following a few sipsā€¦
JUST OK
22nd JAM SHED RED BLEND 2020
Jaya Grocer, Verve Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur
BRIEF: ā€œSourced from selected vineyards, this Red Blend is rich opulent, with sweet blackcurrant flavours and balanced with a subtle vanilla and spice finish. It's a seriously delicious red wine, jam packed with flavour.ā€ SOOTā€™S TAKE: I dig the label but it sure talks a good game. It ainā€™t rich. It ainā€™t jammy and it may just qualify as smooth. But ā€œpacked with flavourā€ it ainā€™t. Insipid more like. šŸ˜
NOT FOR ME
23rd SANTA JULIA MALBEC 2020
CS Fresh The Star Vista, Singapore
I donā€™t know why I didnā€™t enjoy this Malbec as I do others and as I do their Chardonnay, but I didnā€™t. šŸ˜’
