AMAZING
1st SEA BREAM HÜNKÂR BEĞENDI
Travolta Athens, Peristeri
Sauteed sea bream served on smoked eggplant puree and grape tomato confit. Even more amazing than it sounds 🤤
2nd SALMON TERIYAKI
BREAD & SALT, Chalandri
Teriyaki it was not, but it was amazing. Served on beetroot hummus with a soy, lime, orange & beetroot sauce. SO good! €17
REALLY GOOD
3rd MISO SEABASS
Jinjuu Soho, London
Miso marinated seabass fillet, Korean pear salad, lemon. 🤤 £18 #maincourse #seabass #korean
4th SALMONE E RISO VENERE
ALIO, Χαλάνδρι
Grilled salmon fillet served with black rice, broccolini, roasted carrot cream, and citrus-peperoncino sauce. Fabulous, all of it. €19
6th GRILLED SALMON
Chefi The Restaurant, Chalandri
With vegetable tabbouleh, mango-soy sauce & wasabi. €23
8th PAN FRIED FLOUNDER
BREAD & SALT, Chalandri
Really, really good 🤤 Perfectly cooked, with an awesome olive-oil based sauce and spectacular grilled veggies on the side. Upwards of €20 but worth it.
9th ST. PIERRE COURGETTES ENCORNETS MOULES TOMATES BASILIC
VERi TABLE, Neo Psichiko
John Dory with courgettes, calamari, mussels, basil and tomato. €29 #french #pescetarian
10th FRIED SOLE
Nison gi, Agia Paraskevi
Off-menu, like most of their fish (they serve according to the catch of the day). No bells or whistles, just a super fresh fish, perfectly cooked ❤️
11th SEABASS
BREAD & SALT, Chalandri
The actual fish and the sauce were really good, just not as fabulous as they have been other times here. The new charred-veggies side dish, however, was such a downgrade from what they used to be that I have actually rated them separarely... This fish deserved better. €24
12th COD "LOUKOUMADES" WITH TARTARE SAUCE
Ψάρι-Ψάρι, Agia Paraskevi
Super fluffy and flaky chunks of cod, battered and deep-fried, with Tartare sauce. They were oversalted but otherwise delicious, so I won't dock any points as this place just opened last week. €7,20
13th STUFFED SARDINES ON THE GRILL
Mammoth Slow Food, Vrilissia
Stuffed with fresh tomatoes, onions, scallions, parsley and probably garlic and oregano. Juicy and delicious! €12 Note that Mammoth change their menu every single day and have no set dishes, none at all. Their menu du jour is always posted on their website so you can see what your options will be.
14th GRILLED SARDINES
Μπαρμπουνάκι Χαλάνδρι, Chalandri
Probably the best dish we ordered, although it's a tough call between this and the mussels. €7.80
15th ΣΑΡΔΈΛΑ ΠΑΝΤΡΕΜΈΝΗ ΠΙΚΆΝΤΙΚΗ
Psarokókkalo, Melissia
Not actually spicy, but juicy and delicious anyway. €9,60 #pescetarian
16th KOUTSOMOURES
restaurant Akrogiali, Kiparissia
Oops — my mouth was faster than my camera-clicking finger 😂 This is a type of goatfish endemic to Greek waters, similar to a red mullet. Super fresh, shallow-fried and delicious.
17th TUNA WITH GINGER & TAHINI SAUCE
Kuzina, Athina
Menu changes at least twice a year so this may well not be available.
18th SARDINES IN VINE LEAVES
Dopios, Athina
With an Anaheimish-green-pepper pesto. I liked them more than the others on my table did. €8
PRETTY GOOD
19th SALMON IN PONZU SAUCE
Kuzina, Athina
Menu changes at least twice a year so this may well not be available.
22nd COD WITH GARLIC SAUCE (BAKALIAROS SKORDALIÁ)
ΟΥΖΕΡΙ ΤΟΥ ΜΗΤΣΟΥ, Chalandri
Fried fillet of cod with (very garlicky!) garlic sauce. Very traditional Greek fare, eaten year-round but especially on March 25th, which is both a religious and an ethnic holiday.
23rd TUNA WITH SHISO IN PHYLLO CRUST
Varoulko seaside, Pireas
With black sesame, Florina pepper, tomato and soy sauce. €14 #appetiser #michelinstar
25th BREADED RED MULLET FILETS
Dopios, Athina
In "savóro" (oil-and-vinegar) sauce. I liked these less than others on my table, who thought they were one of the best dishes we got. €17
26th HAKE WITH FENNEL
St. John, London
Again, #notmyphoto, this one I stole from their Instagram. My dish didn't have the pesto-type green sauce. The version I was served looked like it had come from my grandma's kitchen, all beige and sickly grey-green, with the fennel clearly overcooked and everything just dumped there with zero attempt at presentation. The fish was decent though (keeping in mind I'm Greek and my fish standards probably skew high), and the fennel tasty despite being overcooked and swimming in too much liquid. All in all a pleasant dish, but way overpriced at £25 or so, and absolutely NOT worthy of a Michelin star. #appalled #maincourse #michelinstar
27th SARDINE FILLETS ON THE GRILL
SECRET GARDEN - MEZEDOPOLEIO - HALANDRI, Chalandri
They did warn us that they purposely undercook the sardines, which we were very happy to try but we definitely didn't like. Picture is after we requested a bit more time on the grill. €6,50 #pescetarian
28th STUFFED SARDINES ON THE GRILL
Ψάρι-Ψάρι, Agia Paraskevi
Not nearly as good this time. They were in desperate need of salt, and swimming in too much bland liquid. Not bad, but not great either. €7,20
