AMAZING
1st CREAM CHEESE CROISSANT
Christine's Bakery, Petaling Jaya
So light and yet so buttery. When you bite into it delicate little flakes float off into the breeze. Do you care that it’s messing up your shirt? No… just enjoy your croissant. That’s all.
2nd LE MOLTEN SALTED EGG YOLK CROISSANT
Le Bread Days, Petaling Jaya
Still the best SEY croissant in town. The croissant itself is buttery and soft, and the SEY filling has the right balance of sweet and savoury. Top it with some crumble and you’ll get a mighty fine snack.
REALLY GOOD
3rd GRILLED CROISSANT
Onion, กรุงเทพมหานคร
Grilled croissant, signature spicy tomato sauce with pork, fresh egg yolk. That "tomato sauce" was more like a spicy, hearty bolognese. The egg yolk and splash of cream elevated the whole dish and made it so good that *someone* finished most of it. This was excellent with the crispy, buttery croissant!
4th GOLDEN LAVA CROISSANT
Bake Plan, Petaling Jaya
And the salted egg yolk craze continues... This is not the best I've had, but it's still very good. The salted egg yolk custard filling is thick and rich, sweet and savoury and so, so delicious. I did find the croissant a little too ‘crispy’ for my liking, but otherwise this is pretty decent. Plus, there are no queues here unlike that other place in the same neighbourhood. Do note that Bake Plan has no dining area, only takeaway is available.
5th PISTACHIO CROISSANT
Flakes (The Hub SS2), Petaling Jaya
Not too sweet and loaded with lots of chunky bits of pistachio. Lovely!
6th GARLIC MOZZARELLA TWICE BAKED CROISSANT
Brotherbird Bakehouse, Singapore
This one had a garlic butter spread with cream cheese filling. It’s good!
PRETTY GOOD
7th ALMOND CROISSANT
lola bySeraiGroup, Kuala Lumpur
Almost Really Good. But it got overshadowed by the other two pastries we ordered. Sorry almond croissant, I know you tried ❤️.
8th CROISSANT 3 IN 1
Thong Kee Cafe Sea Park 溏记海南茶室, Petaling Jaya
This suffered a little during delivery but considering that there’s usually a queue waiting to dine in, I’d rather have a slightly smooshed croissant at home. The croissant itself is more bread-y than the usual flaky ones but still rather tasty. Ham was better than the generic supermarket hams too. Maybe this would have been Really Good had I eaten it freshly made at the premises but for now this will do.
9th HONEY SEASALT CROISSANT
Brotherbird Bakehouse, Singapore
Was expecting something mind-blowing due to all the hype surrounding this place but was slightly disappointed. Tastes nice, but not quite buttery enough.
