AMAZING
1st CORNED BEEF AND POTATO HASH
Georgie's Beachside Grill, Newport
The corned beef was PERFECT (just the way we make ours). Slow cooked point cut in chunks. Excellent. The potatoes could have been better (not crispy) but full marks on the corned beef!!
2nd HOUSE-MADE BEER BRINED CORNED BEEF HASH
Brockton Villa Restaurant, San Diego
Two Eggs / Onion / Breakfast Potatoes / Chive Horseradish Creme Fraiche / & Toast. Good. 2nd best corned beef hash so far!
3rd PORK BELLY HASH AND EGGS
White Mountain Café, McCloud
OMG... best potatoes. So crispy and amazing seasoning. I will come back to McCloud for tis breakfast!
4th PHILLY CHEESE HASH BROWNS
Waffle House, Columbus
crispy hash browns topped with steak, cheese and onions. I loved this so much. I wish we had Waffle Houses in Los Angeles!
6th STEAK HASH
Blu Jam Cafe, Los Angeles
Beef tenderloin, baby spinach, caramelized onions, gorgonzola, grilled potatoes, and mushrooms, topped with two poached eggs and herb-chive hollandaise sauce. Very pricey at 19.95, but it was cooked perfectly and very unique. Yum, yum, yum.
REALLY GOOD
7th PORK BELLY HASH
Barrel and Ashes, Los Angeles
This was a brunch special today. Yummy.
8th CARNE ASADA SKILLET SPECIAL
Horseless Carriage Restaurant, Los Angeles
Marinated Angus steak, eggs, peppers, onions, cheese, and hash browns. I asked for crispy hash browns, and they were perfect!
9th CORNED BEEF HASH
Mon Ami Gabi, Las Vegas
poached eggs, roasted peppers, yukon golds.
10th SHORT RIB HASH
Wicked Cow Craft Kitchen, Los Angeles
Great potatoes in this. Cooked perfectly inside and crispy on the outside. The eggs are a little underdone but it was a really good dish otherwise.
11th BEEF SHORT RIB HASH
The Nest: A Breakfast Joint, Bellflower
Roasted sweet potatoes, boneless beef short rib, topped with horseradish cream, grilled onion, served with two eggs any style on top. We got it with roasted potatoes. The meat falls apart when you touch it - as it should! The horseradish cream is a thoughtful combination of flavors that helps make the dish.
12th PAPAS CON CHORIZO
Red Maple Cafe, Burbank
Spanish chorizo sauteed with breakfast potatoes, cotija cheese, house-made lime crema, housemade pico de gallo, topped with two over medium eggs. The chorizo is not spicy and doesn't have a lot of flavor, but it's a great texture (like Polish sausage).
13th FBD
OD's Kitchen, Gilroy
Fried potatoes with diced ham, bell peppers and onions, cheddar cheese, diced biscuit and country fried steak all smothered with homemade gravy and three eggs on top. This picture is actually half of the dish as they split it for two people. It was still a giant portion that neither person could finish! Lots of great textures. My son would have preferred the bell peppers to be cooked down a little bit more and neither one of them thought that the chicken fried steak was great, but I really like the rest of it.
14th HOMEMADE CORNED BEEF HASH & EGGS
Pete's Breakfast House, Ventura
I won't say I LOVED it , but I REALLY LIKED it. Great service too. Comes with the biscuit and homemade jam. Yum.
18th HASH AND EGGS
Main Kitchen Cafe, Los Angeles
Pulled pork and 2 poached eggs atop balsamic grilled carrots, potatos and celery. Served with a thick slice of squaw bread. The balsamic glaze was a little sweet and tasted great sponged up by the bread. Not a big fan of the vegetables, but the potatos were good.
19th HOT LINK HASH AND EGGS
Lola’s Kitchen, San Fernando
Spicy and tasty with PERFECTLY cooked eggs! The best part of the meal though? The sourdough toast. I'm not a big bread eater, and I loved it! I think it was butter toasted in some salty butter. Sooo good!
19th HOT LINK HASH AND EGGS
Lola’s Kitchen, San Fernando
Not as good as last time. One egg was overcooked and the bread was different...
20th CORNED BEEF HASH
Emle's, Los Angeles
This is not the type of corned beef hash that we prefer. However, for this type of hash, it is better than most. Usually, restaurants admit to using canned hash which they form into patties and then pan-fry. Honestly, it's more like dog food. This restaurant does a much better job with this type of hash. The meat and the potatoes are not smooshed. They are very small cubes and the toasting on top is very good. It's not as salty as I would prefer, but tastes pretty good with eggs.
21st CORNED BEEF HASH
Brent's Deli Northridge, Los Angeles
This is not the style of corned beef hash that I like, but it wasn't horrible.
21st CORNED BEEF HASH
Brent's Deli Northridge, Los Angeles
Ew. I didn't order this. Not a fan of the blended up, smushed together meat. Just no.
22nd CORNED BEEF HASH
Pippo's Cafe, Cortez
Sliced corned beef that is chopped and cooked with hash browns. The potatoes were good, but the meat lacked salt and a lot of the meat was overcooked
JUST OK
23rd CORNED BEEF HASH
Gaffey St. Diner, Los Angeles
Good. Potatos are not mushy and it is nicely browned. Served with 2 eggs, lettuce and tomato and your choice of bread.
24th HANGOVER HASH
Odyssey Restaurant & Events, Los Angeles
The description said "braised prime rib, smashed tater tots, poached egg and signature hollandaise". It did NOT say that there was celery, bell peppers, onions and carrots. It was like a stew that they poured over the tater tots. My egg was cooked perfectly (unlike everyone else at the table) but the chunks of prime rib were overcooked and there was very little of it. ☹️
25th CORNED BEEF HASH
Hash House A Go Go, San Diego
Made with red onions and Swiss cheese. We have traveled far and wide looking for a corned beef hash like the one we make at home. This is the ONLY restaurant we've found that uses cubed meat and potatoes. The meat is a flat cut, so it is lean and chewy. Good flavor, but not the melt in your mouth texture of a point cut. The potatoes are good, but too big. We applaud Hash House, but we still have not found our match!
26th POT ROAST HASH
Basin 141, Glendale
Slow-roasted pot roast and house potatoes, poached eggs, poblano cream sauce, queso fresco and cilantro and a grilled baguette slice. I don't know about their description. I didn't see a poblano cream sauce. What I did see was something like a salsa verde all over the top of the pot roast. No cream. It just didn't really go together. The pot roast was tender but the only gravy or sauce that it had was that salsa on top. Just didn't work for us.
27th PORK BELLY HASH
Joe's Cafe, Los Angeles
Finally went for breakfast. I wanted to give them another try in person. Unfortunately, the hash was not much better. The pork belly was soft but not as plentiful as the potatoes. The potatoes are pretty plain. Just diced potatoes without seasoning and not crisped. The fried egg does continue to cook even in the restaurant so there wasn't that much yolk. It could have used two eggs to make up for that.
27th PORK BELLY HASH
Joe's Cafe, Los Angeles
Good. Placed a To go order and the hash was so hot, it continued to cook my egg... ☹
