AMAZING
1st HORSERADISH CRUSTED MAHI MAHI
Malama Pono Restaurant, Los Angeles
Pineapple buerre blanc, blistered tomatoes, rotated pineapple scallion relish, shoyu syrup. Excellent crisp on the outside, tender and not at all fishy. The pineapple flavor is interesting. This may be the best thing I've had here.
2nd FRIED RED SNAPPER
Oasis Bar & Restaurant, Los Angeles
Wow! This was not on the tasting menu, but they are considering putting it on their menu so they wanted to know what we thought... Consensus was - Yes! Put it on the menu! There was no description, so everyone was trying to figure out what the sauce was... thick aguachile? salsa Verde? maybe with avocado blended in? It had a kick to it and the fish was amazing! #yelpeliteevent #tastingmenu
3rd HALIBUT, FENNEL AND VANILLA
Ladyhawk, West Hollywood
Chef Charbel made this on Top Chef Middle East. The fish is seasoned so well and is delicious all on its own. There is a strong seafood sauce on the plate which is too much on it's own, but takes on a complimentary flavor when mixed with the lemon and vanilla.
PRETTY GOOD
4th FISH ON THE BAYOU
Mardi Gras Tuesday "A Taste Of New Orleans" Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles
Louisiana Blackened Catfish with Shrimp and Dirty Rice, topped with Beurre Blanc Sauce. This was pretty good, but $30? I don't think so.
5th PARMESAN BASIL CRUSTED TILAPIA
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Santa Monica
Served with jasmine rice and lobster tomato basil sauce. Good but crust is not crispy because of the sauce. Would be better if it wasn't poured on top
JUST OK
7th SEARED ALBACORE CARPACCIO
Malama Pono Restaurant, Los Angeles
Shoyu marinade, chili garlic oil, sea asparagus salad, buttermilk-yuzu vinaigrette. I loved the sauce, but the fish was mushy. I don't know if that's normal, but I didn't enjoy the texture.
9th FRIED FISH
Pepe's Mexican Food, Oxnard
Not at all crispy. Disappointing
