REALLY GOOD
1st PIG AND WAFFLE
Breakfast Club Spitalfields, London
My first thought was “How on Earth am I supposed to eat this?” - pick it up like a giant taco, disengage my jaw and attempt to take a giant bite to capture all layers in one go? Or hack at it with a knife and fork like a total lame-o? In my youth I would have gone for the inelegant mega-Bite but I have to set an example for impressionable youths so lame knife-and-fork job it was! There are so many layers of flavour and texture here: pulled pork, pickles, pickled red cabbage, cheese, sriracha, omelette... it was definitely a flavour bomb and very filling!
2nd PULLED PORK WAFFLE BENEDICT
The Breakfast Club London Bridge, London
Not as exciting or enormous as the “Pig and Waffle” but still a tasty offering - pulled pork was good, the eggs weren’t watery (as is my usual complaint at BC); red cabbage was nice and tangy and it was overall a good, filling meal. My one complaint was that the waffle was pretty soggy, would have liked it to at least be crisp around the edges, but acknowledge they’re dealing with some pretty wet toppings!
