REALLY GOOD
1st CHRISTMAS SPICE MUFFIN
Ole & Steen, Richmond
Lovely to get a fresh cherry at this time of year! They were a big part of my childhood Christmases but not so much over here, being winter and all! Under the cherry and cream cheese icing was a spiced apple compote (lovely!) and then a lightly spiced gingerbread (and some kind of nut - pecan perhaps? - cake. Nice!
2nd GINGERBREAD MUFFIN
222, UK
A nice muffin! I was worried it was a bit dry but on balance it was lovely and there was some sort of soft filling which definitely enhanced the overall eating experience
PRETTY GOOD
3rd CHOCOLATE MUFFIN
La Folie Douce Val d'Isère, Val-d'Isère
I didn’t actually want this (it was a surprise from the husband) and the husband ended up eating most of it, but it was a decent cake with some sort of gooey/ganache filling.
4th GRANOLA AND BERRY MUFFIN
EAT., London
Typical chain muffin, with a slightly insipid texture - no bite to the crust. The granola and berry fillings were good though and the cake was pretty tasty so I can’t whine too much.
