REALLY GOOD
1st SEA BASS
The Tudor Rose, Coulsdon
Delicious! Courgette, asparagus and tender stem broccoli accompany some baby potatoes and a tasty sauce to go with the two fillets. Nicely balanced dish.
2nd FISH PLATTER
Mari Vanna, London
A lovely selection of #russian cured and smoked fish #starter
3rd SEA BASS
LA ALACENA DE MARIA, Cartagena
What am I eating?! The English menu had all sorts of things I’d never heard of like Purple sea potatoes and radish rain?! It was very tasty though. The only issue I had was that the “radish rain” also seemed to include sea salt so this was again quite a salty dish which may have been fine on its own, but after the salty starters I’d had, it was a bit much. They only have three mains on the menu though, so that tells you they’re pretty confident in their dishes!
4th SEA BREAM CARPACCIO
Meraki, London
Bright, tangy flavours, sour and salty, almost ceviche-esque; really nice.
PRETTY GOOD
5th PAN FRIED SALMON FILLET
The Royal Oak The Grumpy Mole Oxted, Oxted
This looked lovely but underwhelmed a little in terms of the flavour on the salmon. Perhaps a bit more of the salsa would have helped, or more seasoning on the salmon itself.
6th FISH FINGERS CHIPS AND PEAS (KIDS MEAL)
Ben's Canteen, Clapham Junction, London
This place gets #familyfriendly #childfriendly points for having a dedicated #Kids menu and some toys and books to occupy the little ones. Some kid-friendly cutlery would have been appreciated though. As kids meals go this was a generous size and my toddler ate it all; but otherwise fairly standard kid-fare. #kidsmeal #childmeal #kidsmenu
7th CAJUN SALMON
Si Bar, Atamaría
It was pleasant but very mild spicing. Definitely made for an unadventurous British traveller (I don’t think there was a Spanish dish on the menu!) Apple slaw was serviceable.
