AMAZING
1st BRISKET BURNT ENDS
Double B's MKE-Style BBQ, West Allis
I cannot describe how divine these burnt ends are with words. Just try these. They have rendered every ounce of fat into a tender, almost liquid emulsion into the primary meat. The rendering has aided in bark and carmelization of the incredible amounts of seasoning layered on to form a sticky and savory and salty and delicious flavor bomb of a crust. This. Is. Amazing!!!!
2nd BBQ PULLED PORK SANDWICH
Eagle Park Brewing Company, Milwaukee
Flavorful, juicy, savory, tender, and messy. The sauce is so perfectly balanced, with a great toasted brioche bun!!! No brewery has any business having such good pulled pork!!! INCREDIBLE!
3rd BEEF BRISKET
Foxtown Brewing, Mequon
Salty, smoky, savory, and entirely delicious! This is a phenomenal slice of brisket. Not too fatty, super juicy, and truly brimming with flavor, this brisket melts in the mouth. It’s better off standalone than with the Texas BBQ sauce it is served with. Biggest complaint: only two slices for a dinner platter is nearly criminal.
4th BBQ PULLED PORK SANDWICH
B&C Barbeque, Wichita
Incredibly tender pork slathered in a spicy BBQ sauce on a toasted bun. Nothing else to say here other than to dig in!!!
REALLY GOOD
5th BBQ PULLED PORK SANDWICH
Dragon Pit BBQ, Racine
Really good food truck BBQ! Meat had a lighter season than I personally would have liked, but very tender and juicy! Their old fashioned BBQ sauce was really great! Purchased at the Franksville Craft Beer Garden's Food Truck Night
6th BABY BACK RIBS
Foxtown Brewing, Mequon
A bit of a fattier rib than I’d like, but seasoned and smoked very well! A great flavor here paired with a superb Carolina BBQ sauce (not pictured) made this a very nice treat to have! Incredibly tender, melt in your mouth, and fall off the bone all apply here, and I’m much happier because of it!
PRETTY GOOD
7th SCONNIE STUFFER
Parker John's BBQ & Pizza, Oshkosh, Oshkosh
A one-pound baked potato serves as the fluffy base holding BBQ pulled pork and the house mac and cheese. The individual components all taste great, but perhaps are just imbalanced in ratios. There is way too much potato in this and not enough meat, leading to an inability to mix this and combine flavors, and it is overwhelmed by the potato. A smaller potato, or a broken-up potato that seasoned the inside mashed flesh, with more meat and a touch more mac would really make this a more pleasant experience. The flavors are really good and all here, but the ratios of the components is off here.
8th BBQ PULLED PORK SANDWICH
Cochon Butcher, New Orleans
A bit muted in flavor overall, I would have really liked more sauce to flavor the meat. It was really tender, but the thick bun really dampened the net effect here.
9th PORK FRIES
Honeypie Cafe, Milwaukee
A very flavorful pulled pork sits atop a bowl of fries topped with bbq sauce, a folded over sunny egg, and cheese sauce. Good blends of flavors, but got a bit much towards the bottom of the bowl, especially with the soggy fries left at the end.
10th RIB TIPS
Dragon Pit BBQ, Racine
Well seasoned, but very very greasy, to the point of detracting from the flavor. Purchased at the Franksville Craft Beer Garden's Food Truck Night .
