REALLY GOOD
1st GRAPE MOCHI
Minamoto Kitchoan, Honolulu
Latest/new product from 🇯🇵 This is MOCHI but fruity, 🍇 filling make them like 🍬🍭
2nd 黒胡麻大福 - BLACK SESAMESEED DAIFUKU
Minamoto Kitchoan Ala Moana Center Store, Honolulu
Theri latest addition to the asanama(fresh) mochi. Grounded black sesame seed crusted daifuku mochi filled with black seaame seed anko(white bean paste) . Black sesame seed's nutty sweetness in white bean paste is a new twist to traditional 🇯🇵 mochi.😋
3rd KASHIWA MOCHI
Minamoto Kitchoan Ala Moana Center Store, Honolulu
What more can I say? No month of May ends without Kashiwa mochi EVER!! Kashiwa is oak tree leaves, unlike the sakura leaf around sakura mochi for girls day, Kashiwa for boys/childrens days is not supposed to be eaten..
4th KUMQUAT MOCHI
Minamoto Kitchoan, Honolulu
Seasonal goodness. This tiny candied kumquat in the center has a bit of texture with a burst of fresh citrus, melded with the light-sweet white bean paste also infused with citrus. A little edible gem😋
5th CHICHI DANGO
Nisshodo Candy Store, Honolulu
The one & only Chichi dango. Soft & melt in your mouth(vs chewy traditional mochi), it's literally "mochi" but somehow, loco here in Hawaii calls it "dango(=mochi ball)", lols!
6th MAME DAIFUKU
Minamoto Kitchoan Ala Moana Center Store, Honolulu
My all time favorite daifuku, not only azuki bean paste but also has bits of soy beans mingled in Mochi. A hint of saltiness from soy beans gives an accent & enhances the sweetness of azuki bean paste🤙🏽
7th KURI DAIFUKU
Minamoto Kitchoan Ala Moana Center Store, Honolulu
Another version of daifuku, with chestnuts in the center of azuki bean paste. Chestnuts is basically for fall/winter season but for some reason, daifuku is available year round these days...
8th KUSA MOCHI
Minamoto Kitchoan Ala Moana Center Store, Honolulu
Japanese Mugwort mochi, along with Sakura & Kashiwa mochi, kusa mochi is also a seasonal favorite for spring✌🏽
9th JIAN DUI MOCHI
Lanikai Mochi, Honolulu
Finally managed to stop by at the store & what a find! Their daily special: Jian Dui. And boy, oh boy, was seriouslly soooo good! I absolutely LOVE this, the flavor, the texture, and of course, minus the greasy outer of the original! Appeared to be not a regular menu but they really should make this regular...or maybe for a seasonal(Chinese New Year).. If you see this, grab it!
10th KIBI DANGO
Kōeidō Fujiwara, Okayama
An omiyage from Okayama Japan🇯🇵. 3 kinds of Kibi Dango: original, greentea & white peach. Never tried white peach one before but definitely the best out of all😋
11th FRUIT MOCHI
Minamoto Kitchoan, Honolulu
Surprisingly good & tasty fruit flavored mochi that filled with fruit jelly(v.s. traditional bean paste). Kinda like candy but the mochi is very soft & light, jelly is very fruity(v.s. artificial flavoring),constantly out of stock. Grab one whenever you see 'em at the store✌🏽
12th MATCHA MOCHI
Minamoto Kitchoan, Honolulu
My favorite mochi! Thin layer of mochi dusted with matcha, housing velvety smooth sweet azuki bean paste. Very mildly sweet with a lil bitterness of fragrant matcha, no single ingredient is overpowering. #greentea, #matcha, #maccha, #mochi, #Japan, #japaneseconfectionery, #wagashi, #kitchoan, #minamotokitchoan, #kahalamall, #minamotokitchoankahala, #kitchoankahala
13th KURI DAIFUKU
Minamoto Kitchoan, Honolulu
Traditional & always the best...well, next to mame-daifuku #japanesewagashi, #wagashi, #janapeseconfectionery, #mochi
14th GREENTEA CHOCOLAT MOCHI
Minamoto Kitchoan, Honolulu
Bitter matcha dusted mochi with white chocolate filling. I was expecting the filling to be gteen tea🍵 as well but the white chocolate actually mellow out the bitterness, perfect with either greentea or coffee✌🏽
15th SHOBU MOCHI
Minamoto Kitchoan, Honolulu
Another seasonal Wagashi for spring. This has bits of walnuts in light shoyu-flavored mochi, dusted with kinako. A nice combination of sweet & salt.
PRETTY GOOD
16th LILIKOI MOCHI
Lanikai Mochi, Honolulu
At Made in Hawaii Fest, my another favorite tropic flavor:Lilikoi. Just like POG, sweet & tangy lilikoi is in the gooey-chewy bite. May sound like a strange combination - lilikoi and mochi, but try & believe it, Hawaii specialty, right in this tiny gem🤙🏽
17th MOCHI
Lanikai Mochi, Honolulu
At Made In Hawaii Fest...probablly the only chance of getting a fresh one(unless going to the kapahulu store!), refreshing tropic flavor in this gooey mochi, better enjoy when it's just made!
18th UBE MOCHI
Lanikai Mochi, Honolulu
At Made In Hawaii Fest, this is definitely an Asian specialty, Ube, aka purple yam/okinawan sweet potato, the sweetness & creaminess is in the mochi. The color may scare you off? Don't be,
