AMAZING
1st MISO GLAZED BLACK COD
Chisou Japanese Izakaya, London
Miso marinaded (for 2 days) black cod - a deluxe option on any menu. Never fails to be anything but exquisite šŸ‘ŒšŸ»šŸ˜‹
2nd MISO GLAZED BLACK COD
The Ivy Canary Wharf, London
Black cod is the don of all cods. And miso is the savoury ingredient of my dreams. Delicious šŸ˜‹
3rd SEA PLATE
Cafe Puaa, Tel Aviv-Yafo
Incredibly good cold fish plate - perfect slices of cured trout, marinated herring and smoked mackerel, with a whipped cream cheese and labneh spread and assorted raw veg. Loved this plate.
4th SEA BASS
Dallal Restaurant, Tel Aviv-Yafo
A perfect whole sea bass. Tender and juicy as it flakes off the bone. Superb.
5th BACALHAU ƀ BRƁS
Miguel Castro e Silva, Lisboa
Soft scrambled eggs with salted cod, julienne potatoes, onion and topped with olives. Delicious!
6th CHALK STREAM TROUT
The Coal Shed, London
Chalk stream trout, with roe, dried pineapple and a pineapple mole. Fantastic presentation and an excellent dish šŸ˜‹šŸ‘ŒšŸ»
7th SARDINES ON TOAST

Superb sardines, with tomato and topped with finely chopped pickled veg and fresh parsley.
8th DEEP FRIED FISH BONES
Restaurant Yugo, Vancouver
Final part of the Whole Aji 3 ways - deep fried fish bones. No waste!
9th AYU FISH
Soba Takama, Osaka
The caramel flavour and super soft texture made this a fantastic appetiser
10th WHOLE BABY KINGKLIP
Paranga, Cape Town
Ate a lot of kingkilp in Cape Town. Justifiably so, because its a truly excellent fish. Meaty and generous and soaks up the herbs, butter and lemon superbly.
11th BACALHAU CONFITADO
Taberna Sal Grosso, Lisboa
Lovely salt cod dish, confit in olive oil gently. Served with black eye peas and cabbage.
12th LOCAL CAUGHT CATCH OF THE DAY
Coco Safar V&A, Cape Town
Meaty fish (a type of bass according to the waiter), grilled nicely and served with a mix of lovely roasted vegetables.
13th PAN FRIED SEA BASS
Bobo's, Cape Town
Perfectly cooked, crispy skin sea bass on asparagus, potatoes and a lemony cream sauce. Flawless.
REALLY GOOD
14th CURED WHITE FISH
Taste, Il-Belt Valletta
Local fish, cured beautifully and zingy off the palate in a lime vinegarette. A tarragon emulsion and crisp chickpea cracker provide contrast but detract a bit too much. The emulsion in particular was very bold and dominated the bite so I think a few discreet drops would have been ample, rather than huge globs of it. But the fish itself was wonderful.
15th SARDINES
Trattoria Da Emilia, Sorrento
Big pile of crisp, fried salty sardines served with zingy Sorrento lemonsšŸ‘ŒšŸ»
16th GRILLED SARDINES
A Torre, London
Huge sardines, beautifully seasoned and lightly grilled. Great starter!
17th SARDINE SALAD
Henrique SĆ” Pessoa - Mercado da Ribeira, Lisboa
Fried sardines on pickled carrot and peppers, served on potatoes
18th BACALHAU
Postigo do CarvĆ£o - Restaurante, Porto
Chunky wing of salted cod with buttery potatoes and boiled egg. An institution of a combo in Portugal.
19th DOGFISH
Chiringuito Picasso, MƔlaga
Super juicy dogfish nuggets, marinated in the sharp acidity of lemon before being battered and deep fried. Never had this fish before but this was excellent!
20th NANBANZUKE
Kiaora Japan, Rotorua
Very sharp appetiser/small plate to get the palate going, consisting of fried fish and pickling veg, soaked in vinegar.
21st GRILLED ROCK
Chiringuito Picasso, MƔlaga
Meaty texture and very nicely grilled. Not a fish we see enough of on menus
22nd LEMON SOLE
Paranga, Cape Town
Lovely fish, delicate and nicely cooked. Side of broccoli was OK but felt lacking.
PRETTY GOOD
23rd FRIED ANCHOVIES
Chiringuito Picasso, MƔlaga
Needed a lot of lemon. And just a little crisper would've been good.
24th FISH STICKS
Samsoonie Noodle And Rice, Richmond
Basically a fish sausage served on a stick with a bit of ketchup. Doesn't sound like much but pretty tasty.
NOT FOR ME
25th CHARGRILLED SARDINES
Chiringuito Picasso, MƔlaga
I love fresh, grilled sardines but you have to fillet the guts out. The flavour is ruined when left in like it was here. A real pity...
