Chips are quite chunky and pillowy, so well suited for this rich, golden curry sauce. Not very hot, basically just fragrant with the spice of a decent curry powder.
The problem I have is half of them were godly - a glass like, super crunchy, perfect roast potato-esque finish. The other half were clearly from a separate batch as they were cooked but pale, soft and floury in comparison. More of the former and this would be top tier.
On the menu as 'kumera fries', these are a bit of a NZ staple. These are cut from the yellow fleshed 'red' kumera variant which is less sweet vs the 'beauregard' that I prefer which is crisper and a bright orange colour. Comes with the excellent house aioli.
