BRIEF: “Grilled Teriyaki Chicken, Sesame, Nori, Spring Onion, Garlic, Onsen Egg, Soba.” SOOT’S TAKE: Something different.

BRIEF: “soba noodle with edible wild vegetables.” SOOT’S TAKE: Every element but the broth was good which was disappointingly bland.

BRIEF: “Black Truffle Sauce, White Leek, Mitsuba, Bamboo Shoot, Kurobuta Chashu (1 slice) Soup Base: Chicken & Seafood.” SOOT’S TAKE: Just what was needed on a cold, rainy day. Decent but not as clean-tasting as their shio soba.

They may have been at it since 1889 but the tempura didn’t compare (in taste and in price) to what I enjoyed last week at Tenya and where I would’ve eaten again had it not been for the 45 minute wait. 😩 Soba was good though.

From Labyrinth: JAPANESE PRAWN COLD SOBA

“Char Siu, Flavoured Egg, Bamboo Shoot, Leek & Green Olives Pureed in Truffle Oil.” Soba noodles in a light, flavorful broth. Decent, but not mind blowing enough for me to want to repeat an order of this particular variation. I’m still curious about their duck broth though. 🤔

Noodles in a concentrated, creamy and rich chicken soup. Topped with chicken breast meat and seasonal vegetables.
