With onion, cucumber and spicy peanut sauce

BRIEF: “6 pieces of skewered barbequed meat served with traditional peanut sauce, cucumbers, onions, pineapples and rice cakes.” SOOT’S TAKE: Not bad! The gravy was much preferred to the overly sweet ones I’ve had elsewhere in Malaysia.

A combination of pork and chicken satay. Both types were flavorful and juicy and the gravy was surprisingly piquant as opposed to cloying.

Got a combination of chicken and pork satay to share. Too bad they ran out of ketupat!

Javanese styled chicken satay - their crowd's fav.. Definitely not satay as I’ve mostly known it. This is chunkier, smokier and just a different meat thing on a stick.

Smoky, flavorful, grilled skewered meat, ketupat (rice dumplings cooked in woven palm leaves) and cucumber to accompany a spicy and tasty peanut gravy.

I really enjoyed this and would’ve gone for more except the entire thing of peanut gravy fell off the counter and then I knew it was GAME OVER. 😭

Chunky chicken and beef satay with an extremely spicy peanut gravy. 🥵

With ketupat and the regular fixins’. Tender meat on sticks with just the right balance of fat and muscle. The gravy was decent as well.

Chicken satay served with Hainanese-style gravy i.e. spicy peanut gravy with a dollop of pineapple purée. There was a long line to get this and they’d sold out of their pork satay, which is supposed to be sensational. Next time...

The pork belly satays were juicier compared to the relatively dry chicken ones.

Not bad but I think I prefer ABC Satay Chicken Wing’s satay.

Satay was good although the gravy was a tad too sweet for me.

Charcoal-grilled chicken satay with ketupat (rice dumplings), cukes and onion. Marinade and gravy are a tad sweet.

Very flavorful but the meat was a little dry from grilling in the oven. The gravy was also very spicy from the addition of perhaps one too many chili padis (birds eye chili). 🌶 🌶 🌶

“Charcoal-charred skewers of brightly seasoned fish paste with lemongrass.” The only thing missing is a breezy evening along the beach somewhere.

Snack-sized hunks of grilled meat complemented with a decently-spiced gravy. I liked that it wasn’t too sweet.

Smokey, grilled fatty, poultry on a stick. Under normal circumstances, I would’ve picked at the fat and the soot but today was not a normal day and so I tried to maximize my enjoyment of what I had and went all the way. It really is quite tasty when you stop thinking about what you’re eating. Gravy was super-spicy and yet I couldn’t stop and got more of it from the lady who was also really nice about it.
