REALLY GOOD
1st TOP SECRET RECIPES VERSION OF P.F. CHANG'S MAI TAI…SORT OF
Soots Cook Nook, Private
Happy Real Mai Tai Day (as opposed to the not so real one 2 months ago)? I am of course celebrating with this slightly less than authentic version of P.F. Chang’s Mai Tai, in part because I didn’t have any Bacardi 151 on hand (nor would it have been possible for me to since it’s been discontinued). Anyhoo, a heady tiki drink to unwind with, given the 3 varieties of rum that went into the concoction. Oh mai!
2nd BLUE HAWAIIAN
Red Lobster, Champaign
BRIEF: “Malibu Coconut Rum, Bacardi Rum, blue Curaçao, pineapple juice and sour mix. 150 Cal” SOOT’S: I rarely (if ever) get to enjoy a blue drink and after a long morning completing my mission at the Springfield DMV, I figured why the hell not?
3rd SOUTHERN MANGO SOUR
Black Dog Smoke & Ale House, Champaign
BRIEF: “Mango Rum, Ice Tea and Lime Sour, Garnished with a Lime.” SOOT’S TAKE: Of course I had to have one of their cocktails! Always! @ Black Dog!
5th LEMONS FOR LULU’S CARIBBEAN RUM PUNCH
Soots Cook Nook, Private
Happy Tropical Cocktails Day! Caribbean Rum Punch with rum from a distillery that had its beginnings before Bolivar’s time to transport me to the islands…🏝️🍹
6th NYT COOKING’S RUM AND PINEAPPLE JUICE
Soots Cook Nook, Private
Feeling tropicale today with rum aged 12 years at the base of an active volcano and a sprinkle of freshly grated nutmeg.
7th ISLA BONITA PUNCH
Soots Cook Nook, Private
Fizzy, vanilla-laced pineapple punch. T'was a hit with the partiers.
8th MALIBU BAY BREEZE
Soots Cook Nook, Private
Ahhh...Malibu, what would I do w/o you???
9th MALIBU PIÑA COLADA
Soots Cook Nook, Private
I need some sunshine in my life. Malibu to the rescue. 🍍🌞🥥
10th CITRUS RUM COOLER
SQ 35, Los Angeles - Singapore
An invigorating recipe of orange liqueur, rum and orange juice, topped with 7-Up. They still make 7-Up??? #REFRESH
PRETTY GOOD
11th GOODFOOD’S RUM PUNCH
Soots Cook Nook, Private
Mentally transporting myself to azure waters and sandy beaches with Shivi Ramoutar's recipe because boy do I need it. Happy World Rum Day.🍹
12th SOMEWHAT DARK ’N STORMY
Soots Cook Nook, Private
Celebrating World Cocktail Day with a toast to the witty witness testifying in Manhattan last week and to the sick burns delivered on the stand during cross. 🥃🤣 *Just as I wasn’t able to attend the trial in person for the full Stormy experience, so I wasn’t able to make this drink with Goslings for the full Dark ’n Stormy experience.
14th AMERICA’S TEST KITCHEN’S MAI TAI
Soots Cook Nook, Private
Happy National Mai Tai Day! My first one outside Hawaii.
15th RUM & RAISIN EARL GREY 兰姆葡萄干伯爵
Signature KOI, Singapore
A combination that works BUT wayyyy too watered down for my liking (and I’d imagine, Captain Morgan’s as well). Would be much improved with 80% reduction in ice.
16th IS THIS REALLY BOULEVARDIER?
Atas Sentral, Private Location
From NUTMEG & CLOVE: HAVANA CLUB 7YO | COCONUT VERMOUTH | COFFEE CAMPARI |PANDAN
18th FLAMINGO
Soots Cook Nook, Private
Something light and bright for the darkness...
21st FROZEN PINEAPPLE MANGO DAIQUIRI
Soots Cook Nook, Private
Had some 🥭 that was getting overly ripe. This came in handy. 😉
22nd COCONUT MANGO DAIQURI
POOL BAR - VOYAGER OF THE SEAS®, Singapore - Port Klang - Phuket - Singapore
Reinforcements (from a different mixer): Bacardi, Malibu and mango juice mix. She got a bigger tip 💵
23rd PASSION IN THE JUNGLE
Soots Cook Nook, Private
Had to get rid of the passion fruit I took with me from Windjammer but did not consume in my room. The orange as well (yes, I become a fruit moocher when I’m off terra firma). Hartwood’s recipe was the answer.
24th CRAZY CUBAN
Tommy Bahama Ginza, Chuo City
The scent of Tommy Bahama, the Crazy Cuban that doesn’t cost me an arm and a leg...and I’m back on Oahu.🍹🏝 #tommybahama #alohatime #crazycuban #bacardigold #bananaliqueur #malibu 🍍 #localtodamax #dakine #ginza #tokyo #sootyinJP🇯🇵
JUST OK
25th SHE SO FINE
SINGAPORE COCKTAIL FESTIVAL 2019, Empress Lawn
“Osmanthus Flower-Infused Sailor Jerry Rum, Shiso Liqueur, Fee Brothers Plum Bitters, Lime Juice, Sugar Syrup, Ginger Ale” from Mitzo. I could taste a little bit of shiso, but that was it. #unremarkable
NOT FOR ME
26th PINA COLADA
Señor Taco (Blk A), Singapore
Watered down and ridiculously priced. I should’ve known when the waiter asked if I wanted it alcoholic or non. I asked if they weren’t all alcoholic? I mean, who pays $20 for a mocktail??
