You can have as much of their "painstakingly steamed" rice as you like and 2 choices of sambal (sweet or spicy). An extra 50 cents to sub the fried egg for the omelette. Spicy sambal is super spicy! #noboiledrice

Nasi lemak has to be one of the greatest culinary inventions ever. Simple yet so satisfying.

Nasi Lemak Kukus Ayam Berempah. From one of the roadside vendors working alongside the cendol and rojak peeps. Good sambal and the chicken was lovely. Packed this for dinner, which is why it looks a right mess now.

First meal of the day!

The most basic form of nasi lemak which is also my favorite form of the dish. We don’t need any extraneous items like a whopping fried chicken thigh or a rich meat dish like rendang to distract from the symphony of flavors in the coconut-pandan infused rice, the moerish sambal and the fragrant fried mix of peanuts and anchovies. No siree Bob, none of that protein nonsense!

Had to return after a great first experience last week. Had planned to get their Monday special (ayam penyet) but it wasn’t going to be available till noon, so Nasi Lemak it was.

Purchased off a snack stand called Nyonya Sister near the exit leading to JB Sentral at City Square. It’s very basic but tasty enough.

“With famous taliwang sauce from Lombok Indonesia.” One of the better Nasi Lemak I’ve had in Singapore.

Nyonya Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken

The sambal is too sweet for me. Otherwise, it’s passable.

Coconut rice served with baby shrimp sambal petai, stir-fried kangkung, hard-boiled egg & deep-fried ikan bilis. Served with fragrant, fork-tender chicken rendang.

With bergedil and nyonya otah.

Crispy chicken, fish otah, coconut rice, fish cake, sambal chilli, ikan bilis & peanuts.

I dunno where the line between nasi lemak ends, but it felt iffy with this one.

Thoroughly decent Nasi Lemak. Not sure the lobster added much to it though because it was kind of dry.

Zero peanuts (which is aggravating because they’re the only reason I tolerate the ikan bilis) and zero cucumber which should be present based on their stall’s menu picture. The sambal (like a lot of the nasi lemak sold in Singapore) was too sweet and one-note.

The overly tart sambal did it in. For me.
