REALLY GOOD
1st SEAFOOD PERANAKAN LAKSA 海鲜叻沙
Courtyard Cafe, National Gallery, Singapore
BRIEF: “Prawns, Flower Clams, Fishcakes, Taupoks, Lettuce, Braised Egg, Rice Vermicelli.” SOOT’S TAKE: As scrumptious as before but > 40% pricier than it was before 🫤
2nd DRY LAKSA
Café Brera at Reunion, Singapore
A Level 7 meal not from GentleFoods® but courtesy of GentleFoods® nonetheless.
3rd SING LAKSA
Museum Cafe, Singapore
BRIEF: “Chor Bee Hoon, Laksa Gravy, Coconut Milk, Prawns, Tau Pok, Fish Cake, Boiled Egg, Laksa Leaves, Bean Sprouts, Fried Tau Kee.” SOOT’S TAKE: Pre-Peranakan Museum lunch. Rich from the coconut milk but not overly so. I requested leaving out the bean sprouts and they complied so, yay. 🙌
6th CURRY LAKSA
Malaymas, Fitzroy North
Noodles served in coconut curry soup with chicken pieces, fishcakes, BBQ pork and tofu.
7th SEAFOOD PERANAKAN LAKSA
Courtyard Cafe, National Gallery, Singapore
Vermicelli noodles served in creamy spices Peranakan-style gravy with mussels, prawns, squid, fishcakes, taupok, beansprouts (HOLD the beansprouts!!) and onsen egg.
8th SINGAPORE LAKSA
Latest Recipe, 23 BEACH VIEW
The star of the buffet table IMO. I had > 1 helping.
12th LAKSA 叻沙
Laksa Leaf , Singapore
A really good deal at $4.50 and for coming with a bottle of water.
JUST OK
14th LAKSA WITH HALF LOBSTER
Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore
Had so much potential to be really good but alas, it was let down by a profound lack of seasoning 😭
15th VEGAN BORNEO LAKSA
Ashley's by Living Food, Kuala Lumpur
“Brown rice vermicelli & spiralled veggies in a creamy & spicy almond mylk broth served with grilled tofu, tofu pok and a side of miso sambal.” The Good The miso sambal managed to be both piquant and guilt-free. The Insipid The laksa was let down by the broth which was one-dimensional and overwhelmingly dominated by the aroma and taste of curry powder.
