REALLY GOOD
1st SUNTORY 烏龍茶 OTPP
DON DON DONKI Jem, Singapore
You definitely get full-bodied oolong in this bottle. I’ll be thinking of the oolong tea polymerized polyphenols that reportedly “reduce abdominal fat in individuals with a higher BMI” as I chug the hell outta this.
2nd COLD STRAWBERRY TEA
Isetan, Singapore
From the ÜMACHA popup. So refreshing and so Japanese-y! 🍓
3rd GREEN TEA (ICED) | ชาเขียว (เย็)
Yuzu Ramen Icon Siam, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon
Tastes solidly of sencha. None of that overly-diluted nonsense you typically get elsewhere.
4th "ROYAL" PARADISE TROPICAL ICED TEA ロイヤルパラダイストロピカルティー
Royal Host Takashimaya S.C., Singapore
BRIEF: “Long-selling iced tea in Royal Host Japan for more than 20 years - aromatic black tea blended with 4 kinds of herbs.” SOOT’S TAKE: Refillable at $2.80. Reminded me of Hawaii.
5th ICED TEA
MK Restaurant MBK Center, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon
Complimentary, refillable and with a hint of pandan
7th SOSRO TEHBOTOL
Palapa Indonesian Fast Food, Singapore
Perfumed (but lightly enough that it’s not off-putting) and refreshing accompaniment to nasi campur. With less sugar, it’s even better than the original.
8th JUMBO LEMON TEA 超大杯柠檬茶
Xiang Xiang Hunan Cuisine, Singapore
BRIEF: 🇨🇳 辣城炒肉的 CP 99% 的人都会点 🇬🇧: Hunan Stir-fry Pork’s couple pairing (CP). 99% of people would order. SOOT’S TAKE: I am among the 99% of humans that would order this because it is greatly needed to counter the heat of so many of their dishes.
10th HONEY FLORAL GREEN TEA
Signature KOI, Singapore
The kind of refreshing I needed to survive today’s heat 🥵 I think it was jasmine because it reminded me vaguely of Thailand.
11th CHINESE TEA 中国茶
Restaurant Kim Lian Kee, Kuala Lumpur
My go-to these days for dehydrating, searing-hot weather.
13th 超大杯金桔柠檬茶 | EXTRA LARGE PERFUME LEMON TEA
Ba Shu Sichuan Restaurant, Singapore
I wouldn’t go quite so far as to describe this as perfumed or extra large (for me anyway because it still wasn’t enough) but TG it didn’t taste like detergent.
14th YEO’S CHRYSANTHEMUM TEA
Tian Lai Seafood Garden, Johor Bahru
Just the kind of cooling and refreshing I’m looking for.
16th BERRY BASIL TEA COOLER
Brotzeit Westgate, Singapore
Much better than I expected, although 1/3 of the glass was berries.
17th 복숭아 에이드 PEACH ADE
Mannadosirak, Kuala Lumpur
Finally, a Sooty-worthy-sized beverage that obviates the need for a second order.
18th TROPICAL TEA
Wondermama, Petaling Jaya
Nice balance of tart and sweet.
19th 黒烏龍茶
Kanbe Ramen - 163 Retail Park, Kuala Lumpur
Slowly fermented and roasted black oolong tea carefully selected and used by KANBE. Happy to have this over sencha. Also free and free flow with any order.
21st AMERICA’S TEST KITCHEN’S ICED BLACK TEA
Soots Cook Nook, Private
Happy Iced Tea Day! Nothing like one of my favorite beverages to refresh on a searing day such as today. I wonder why I don’t make it more often? 🤔
22nd ICED LEMON TEA
Pizza Express | Star Vista (Buona Vista), Singapore
Refreshing. It may or may not have given me a touch of food poisoning 😷
23rd 超大杯柠檬茶 GIANT LEMON TEA
Xiang Xiang Hunan Cuisine @ One Holland Village, Singapore
I am among the 99% of diners who would order this. All drinks (that I like) everywhere should be sized as such (just sayin’).
26th FREE GREEN TEA
IKKYU Izakaya Restaurant & Bar, Kuala Lumpur
I thought the days of free, free flow beverages were obsolete, but not in this corner of the world. You can also taste the green tea in this which is more than you can ask for anywhere else that charge you $2 for very watered down versions.
27th ICED HIBISCUS PASSION FRUIT
Fore Coffee - Bugis Junction, Singapore
BRIEF: “Refreshing blend of hibiscus tea with passion fruit and manuka honey.” SOOT’S TAKE: Got to try this for $2.99 because they reward people for downloading and using their app. It was just what I needed to refresh and reset my dehydrated self.
28th GOLD PEAK® SLIGHTLY SWEET TEA
Meijer, Urbana
BRIEF: “Make it slightly sweet with real brewed Gold Peak Slightly Sweet Tea and enjoy all the delicious flavor of Gold Peak Sweet Tea with half the sugar.” SOOT’S TAKE: My fav sweet tea made even better.
