AMAZING
1st FRUIT SALAD
Tía Lily’s House, Villa Pueyrredón
Ok, the freshest, sweetest strawberries I’d had in a long time. They were doused in orange juice with bananas mixed in. Who knew I’d enjoy a fruit salad so much?!? 🍓🍓🍓 💕
REALLY GOOD
2nd FAREEDA DRIED JACKFRUIT ขนุนทอด
Gourmet Market, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon
One of few guilty pleasures of mine that seem to only be readily available in Thailand.
3rd ASAM ROSE PRUNE
Mr Bentong Hafiz Oon HQ, Bentong
From a Muslim-Chinese store selling Bentong ginger products and a wide array of preserved fruit. These were my favorite of all the ones sampled.
4th ASAM JAMBU AIR
Mr Bentong Hafiz Oon HQ, Bentong
A slight variation among their asam fruit range. I slightly prefer the rose prune one.
5th GRAPES
山塘街, Su Zhou Shi
Got these off a lady on her bike from whom we weren’t expecting to get anything until she whipped these out from a secret compartment after a short chat. Reddit suggests they’re moondrop grapes but I’m not sure.
6th 树葡萄
Shanghai Zhujiajiao Ancient Town Tourist Zone, Shang Hai Shi
Encountered and tried tree grapes for the first time courtesy of tree grape lady by the river who was strangely parked far and away from the touristy area by the river in a quiet residential zone.
8th BANANA SOCIETY ALMOND CRUSH
Somewhere In Bangkok, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon
Another souvenir from furflebear and another unique snack I'm encountering for the first time.
9th CHOCOLATE DIPPED SOLAR DRIED BANANA
Somewhere In Bangkok, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon
Chocolate Dipped Solar Dried Banana. Delish! But apparently not everyone likes this.
10th MJC FARMS STRAWBERRIES
Coles Melbourne CBD, Melbourne
Never been disappointed by Australian strawberries!
11th PITBULL MART CRISPY VEGETABLES
Moo-Ka-Ta Krua Thai Restaurant (Kepong Baru), Kuala Lumpur
I think these were jackfruit crisps which I got to snack on at a mini grocer built into the resto. They were as crispy good as they looked and sounded. As expected, they gave me gastritis, so the backup omeprazole wasn’t a paranoid hypochondriacal decision on my part.
12th FIGS
Kebun Buah Tin Nadiah, Bentong
Purchased from a roadside stall outside the farm. At RM 50/kg, of which I purchased 1 kg (although they really didn’t feel like they weighed all that much), these were smaller, softer, riper (and hence more concentrated in their flavor). I preferred their flavor but not their texture.
13th PRICKLY PEAR
Leppington Valley Farm, Leppington
Straight from the producer. Or what’s left of it…
15th ROSE APPLE SLICES
nahm, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon
Rose apple slices with palm sugar to douse the raging fires in our mouths.
16th MUNCH STRAWBERRY CRISPY
CS Fresh The Star Vista, Singapore
If you’ve always wondered what freeze-dried strawberry jam might taste like...
17th TRADER JOE’S FREEZE DRIED BANANA SLICES
Trader Joe's, Los Angeles
Light, crunchy and tasty. The best I’ve had so far in their banana range!
19th GARDENSCENT WHOLE FOOD NUTRITION ORGANIC FREEZE DRIED BANANA & PEACH
One Nature, Singapore
I had come with the sole intention to buy freeze-dried corn, but ended up buying these as well after sampling the shop’s other offerings.
22nd STRAWBERRIES
Agro Market, Brinchang
Been a while since I had fresh strawberries at their source and certainly even longer since I had ones grown in Cameron Highlands. They’re nowhere near the exquisiteness of Japanese strawberries but they’ve definitely upped their game since their teeny tiny next-to-flavorless era.
24th BLUSH PERINO GOLD SWEET SNACKING TOMATOES
CS Fresh @ Holland Shopping Centre, Singapore
blush perino GOLD sweet snacking tomatoes. Premium-looking tomatoes purchased at a premium price (even after discount!!).
25th BANANA SOCIETY GREEN TEA DIPPED
Somewhere In Bangkok, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon
Also from furflebear but this time the dehydrated banana is dipped in Matcha.
29th FIGS
Fig Malaysia Farm Janda Baik, Bentong
At RM 125/kg, of which I purchased ~ 160 g worth, these were medium-sized and mild-moderately sweet.
30th BLACK GENOA FIGS
Leppington Valley Farm, Leppington
They’re better than the ones I’ve had in recent memory but not good enough to warrant another purchase for the price.
