4th 豆沙芝麻枣 FRIED SESAME BALL W/RED BEAN PASTE
Restoran Foo Hing Dim Sum, Puchong
First time trying a version with a pandan-flavored crust and red bean as a filling.
Restoran Foo Hing Dim Sum, Puchong
Also nothing wrong with these! They are appropriately petite so you can pop one in your mouth just right.
Restoran Dim Sum Jinbo, Seremban
This may have been the best of all the dishes sampled.
5-Star Dim Sum - Meiling Street, Singapore
Perfectly wrapped plump, juicy shrimp! These were really well-made.
10th CHAR SIEW BAO
Peach Garden @ Thomson Plaza, Singapore
No watered down, pasty base and the filling is good, so that’s a 👍 for me.
Peach Garden, Singapore
These were great! Maybe the best of all the small plates today.
Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant, Singapore
I didn’t quite know what to expect but the description was intriguing and these did not disappoint! #sweetandsavory
The Chinese Restaurant, Singapore
It’s one of those things that can be basic yet delicious because it’s done well.
Johor Bahru
These were filled with ground peanuts and were yummy. 😋
Wah Lok, Singapore
I think this is one of the restaurant’s signature items. It was very tasty.
Wah Lok, Singapore
I’m not usually crazy about har gao but these were really well done.
Restoran Foo Hing Dim Sum, Puchong
I’m not sure I appreciated the smoked duck aspect of this dish but on the whole, it was pretty good. The delicately fried crispy batter surrounding the meat probably saved it. Not that I would repeat in the future.
24th XO 酱炒萝卜糕 STIR FRIED RADISH CAKE WITH XO SAUCE
Restoran Loon Sing Sdn Bhd, Nilai
I’d be just as happy (maybe even happier?) with the no-frills version.
27th 香芒沙律筒 DEEP-FRIED MANGO ROLL WITH SALAD SAUCE
The Chinese Restaurant, Singapore
The filling was reminiscent of the kind of mayo-drenched salads some Chinese restaurants of yesteryear would serve. You couldn’t deny there was mango in it (among other fruit) but you couldn’t honestly call it a mango roll either because that wasn’t the flavor that dominated.
Peach Garden @ Thomson Plaza, Singapore
It was a fried roll with shrimp and banana. Interesting combination but I’m not sure I tasted much (if any?) 🍌.
