REALLY GOOD
1st CURRY'O 咖喱角
Old Chang Kee @ Changi Airport T2, Singapore
BRIEF: “Curry Chicken, Egg, Potato in Puff Pastry.” SOOT’S TAKE: It’s been a very long while, Old Chang Kee, and it must be because you now look prehistoric! 🦕
2nd POTATO EPOK EPOK
EPOK EPOK NYÉ, Singapore
I was today years old when I learned that these gigantic fried curry puffs are actually called epok epok. The stall also has less traditional options like rendang, salted egg, black pepper and carbonara but I was feeling purist today.
4th SARDINE PUFFS
Soots Cook Nook, Private
Made puff pastry for the first time and used them towards these sardine puffs. Yes, I made the filling too.
5th SARDINE PUFF
Tip Top Curry Puff Westgate, Singapore
I didn’t get to try this the last time I was here because they were out, and I can see why now. They’re delicious and in my view, even better than their signature curry puffs! 🐟 🐟🌶
9th SARDINE PUFF
Polar Puffs & Cakes | Singapore General Hospital, Singapore
Much better than J.A.’s Balcony’s offering. Got 2 for $5.90.
12th SARDINE PUFF
J A.'s Balcony, Brinchang
Filling was a tad too salty.
13th CURRY CHICKEN PUFF
Han's, Singapore
BRIEF:”Crispy buttery puff filled with Chicken Thigh and Diced Potatoes.” SOOT’S TAKE: 15% cheaper than Polar Puffs & Cakes where their chicken curry puffs are almost 20% pricier than those at their SGH location. 🤣
16th CHICKEN CURRY PUFF
Tanglin Crispy Curry Puff Since 1952, Singapore
More generous than average filling which was also a tad too salty for me.
18th CURRY PUFF
Polar Puffs & Cakes, Singapore
BRIEF: “Our signature pastry of curried chicken leg meat and onions.” SOOT’S TAKE: Not as good as before and 40% pricier.
20th SARDINE & CURRY PUFFS
PLAZA MONT KIARA, Kuala Lumpur
Purchased at Thursday's Fiesta Nite. The sardine puffs were better.
JUST OK
21st MALAYSIA’S CULINARY HERITAGE’S KARIPAP
Soots Cook Nook, Private
For empanada day, I fried curry puffs for the first time in my life (usually bake em’). Wasn’t crazy about the filling (still on the hunt for a tastier recipe), but they appeared to fry up real bubbly with the use of shortening in the dough.
