AMAZING
1st VAULT CITY STRAWBERRY SUNDAE
CS Fresh The Star Vista, Singapore
BRIEF: “Sweet and juicy Scottish strawberries pair perfectly with our sour base beer to create something smooth and full bodied. Expect mouth-watering flavours of traditional strawberries and cream with the addition of smooth vanilla.” SOOT’S TAKE: Delish and just delightful. Never had anything like this before. I’d revisit this!
2nd ALIVE BREWING CO TRIPLE CITRUS SOUR ALE WITH SEA SALT
Smith Street Taps, Singapore
Everything I wanted in a refreshing pint for the searing heat and for the satay! Perfect!
REALLY GOOD
3rd VAULT CITY TRIPLE FRUITED MANGO
CS Fresh The Star Vista, Singapore
BRIEF: “With Triple Fruited Mango, we've taken something we love and multiplied it by three. All the rich, juicy Alphonso mango of our original session sour, times three. Three times the aroma. Three times the flavour. A vegan friendly, tropical adventure that's fresh, juicy and bold. Paired with our mouth-watering base beer, the result is a lingering tartness with each mouthful that perfectly balances the sweetness of the fruit.” SOOT’S TAKE: I was struck by how vibrantly orange this beer appeared. Yummy and enjoyed with leftover bibimbap.
4th BREWLANDER PASSIONISTA PASSIONFUIT HAZY
CS Fresh Gold @ Paragon, Singapore
BRIEF: “Inspired by a trip the team went on, Passionista Passionfruit Hazy is a big, juicy, and passiónate brew that is dangerously easy to have. Expect a fruit-forward, subtly citrusy, sweet, and tangy profile from the exotic passionfruit, further brought out by the juicy aroma from the hops. A proper kick on the palate, (potentially) dangerous to the wallet.” SOOT’S TAKE: Everything they said. I’d drink this again.
5th YUZU BEER
Chao Chao Gyoza @ Novena, Singapore
BRIEF: “Enjoy this refreshing ASAHI beer draft with Japanese Yuzu.” SOOT’S TAKE: Refreshing this is! I’d call it Japanese shandy if I could!
6th SEA SPRAY ALE
Charcoal Fish Rose Bay, Rose Bay
I like the lemon myrtle undertones in this light ale. There’s also sea parsley in this but having no idea what that tastes like, can’t really comment on that count.
7th PARROTDOG
Guzman y Gomez, Singapore
Decent lager to go with my burrito at only $5 a pint during Happy Hour!
8th STONE® BUENAVEZA SALT & LIME LAGER
Jaguaritas, Singapore
Baja-inspired Mexican lager brewed with sea salt and lime that’s crisp and refreshing enough to go with the fish tacos.
9th KIRIN BEER キリンビール
Tenya Orchard Central, Singapore
At $5.50 for ~ 1/2 pint, it’s the cheapest (yet still decent) beer I’ve encountered at any restaurant!
10th SAILORS GRAVE BREWING LEMON MERINGUE CREAM SOUR
Atas Sentral, Private Location
“Creamy and refreshingly tart with a bright kick of fresh local organic lemon zest and juice. Finished on vanilla.” It’s everything they say it is, which is to say I really enjoyed it. The closest thing I can compare it to is shandy but this is waaay better and it belongs in its own category.
11th DUVEL BELGIAN STRONG BLOND
CS Fresh The Star Vista, Singapore
Frothiest beer I’ve ever poured or had for that matter. At first I thought I just really sucked at pouring beer but it turns out this is one frothy beer! 🍺
12th SHACKMEISTER® ALE
Shake Shack Westgate, Singapore
I dunno that it’s ShackBurger’s best friend (because I’ll probably never try it), but it’s certainly a very good friend of SmokeShack™. I enjoyed its citrusy yet malty flavor.
13th QUILMES CRISTAL
Pizzería Güerrin, Buenos Aires
It just felt like the kind of place for a cerveza to go with your Pizza a 🐴.
14th HITE EXTRA COLD
O Chicken & Beer, Singapore
So clean-tasting and perfect with KFC! 🍺
15th SILOSO BEACH LIME SEA SALT GOSE
CS Fresh The Star Vista, Singapore
Happy 56th to the island nation that hasn’t made it too hard to stay alive in these extraordinary times. It’s also a great excuse to try some locally brewed craft beer. Brief: “A refreshing Gose brewed with sea salt and kaffir lime. Zesty flavours and hints of herbal sourness and salt. Beer that tastes like chill island vibes.” True to its description, I’m pleasantly surprised by how different (and refreshing) this is. It’s sour and salty at the same time without tasting anything like a margarita. I taste none of the malty bitterness that characterizes (all?) the beers I’ve (ever?) had. It really is like nothing I’ve ever tried and it really bears repeating!
17th BIG WAVE GOLDEN ALE
Aloha Poké (Jewel Changi Airport), Singapore
From KBC. Floods me with warm memories of a past life (actually lived).
20th TIGER CRYSTAL
FairPrice Clementi Ave 2, Singapore
You can bet I was sweating 😓 as much as the bottle. Talk about uncaging ultimate refreshment!
21st BREWLANDER FREEDOM LAGER
CS Fresh The Star Vista, Singapore
My first time trying locally crafted beer born out of an “innocent brewing hobby in (the founder’s) little HDB flat...” It was crisp, refreshing and extremely satisfying with my lunch of homemade bacon jalapeño cream cheese empanadas. Also extremely rewarding after hauling ~ 10 kg of supplies home on foot. 🥵🏃‍♀️😷
23rd PERONI NASTRO AZZURRO
CS Fresh The Star Vista, Singapore
After a 🏃‍♀️ and a 🌯... So crisp! So refreshing!
28th SUMMER IPA
Charlie's Corner, Singapore
It’s Happy Hour and what better refreshment than a 🍺 to go with fish & chips?
29th FREE BEER
Brotzeit Westgate, Singapore
I don’t think it was the Märzen I wanted to try but it was still good and it went perfectly with my meal.
30th KIRIN ICHIBAN FROZEN BEER 一番搾リ
紅葉もみじ MOMIJI MATSURI, Singapore
First time trying frozen beer. It’s actually the foam that’s frozen which I wasn’t expecting. Great accompaniment to the takoyaki though. Also a great way to end the day (pre-crash) after an unexpected all-nighter.
