REALLY GOOD
1st BANANA LEAF RICE
Pandian's Banana Leaf - Indian Food Stall, Petaling Jaya
A ‘modern’ take on ‘Banana Leaf’... without the banana leaf! Southern Indian fare at its best: all fresh, simple and very tasty! Won’t go into the nitty-gritty of what was had... just look at the last picture for the results! Furthermore, really good food at a really reasonable price! #curry #rice
2nd BANANA LEAF RICE
Exotic Curry House, Klang
Following a visit for breakfast, went for lunch! Southern Indian fare, simple and made really well! Boom! 💥 #curry #rice
3rd NASI KERABU WITH BEEF RENDANG
Pok Be Nasi Kerabu & Nasi Kukus, Klang
A quaint little eatery by the side of a road, in an offbeat village area, serving delectable Kelantanese cooking! It only does 5 dishes and is very well patronised - this is close to amazing! As Arnie says... “I’ll be back!” #kelantan #rendang #rice #flavourful
4th NASI LEMAK
Village Park Restaurant, Petaling Jaya
Village Park is a highly popular eatery, serving Malaysian delights to all, including Prime Ministers. The nasi lemak is generally delectable, served with a fragrant coconut milk & pandan flavoured rice, a nice sweetish sambal (more like a sauce) and a delightful fried chicken with ‘rempah’ (bits of the fried seasoning!). The fried chicken is so popular here, it is reputed they serve in excess of 3000 pieces a day! Blimey! Go during odd-hours, as queues can be pretty damn long during regular meal times (and its prices are marked higher than average)! #nasilemak #friedchicken However, after today’s showing a downgrade to ‘Pretty Good’ may be necessary! ;)
5th NASI LEMAK
Gerai Nasi Lemak Medan Kelana, Klang
This stall has been around for over 60 years. An all-round delicious nasi lemak, served with it’s famed squid sambal (cooked perfectly!) and the usual peanut, egg, cucumber and chilli sambal complements. And if squid isn’t your thing, the chicken rendang alternative is excellent too! #nasilemak #rice #coconut #chicken #squid #sambal #spicy #breakfast
6th NASI LEMAK
Madam Kwan's Empire Shopping Gallery, Subang
Steamed rice cooked in coconut cream. Served with Beef Rendang (Mild Dry Coconut Curry Beef) [or with Curry Chicken], Sambal Ikan Bilis (Spicy Anchovies & Onions), Acar (Spicy Pickled Carrot & Cucumber), Shrimp Floss, Hard-boiled Egg and Sliced Cucumber. A very good combination, making it a rather delicious Nasi Lemak! The Acar was simply wonderful! Voted as ‘The Best’ by the Ministry of Tourism Malaysia - I say, “Worth a try!” #nasilemak #rice #fish #beef #delicious
7th BANANA LEAF RICE
Rathaa Curry House, Puchong
Splendid banana leaf rice. Had a piece of fried mackerel, lamb curry and rassam to accompany that. Simple curry made really well! 💥 Delicious! #curry #bananaleaf #rice #rassam
8th NASI LEMAK
Restaurant I.V., Pelabuhan Klang
Simple nasi lemak. Good fragrant coconut rice and a nice flavourful, mildly spicy sambal. Well done! #rice #nasilemak #cheapeats
9th STICKY RICE
Baan Phadthai, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon
Wow, this rice was certainly sticky! And fragrant too! Only in Thailand does one get great glutinous rice! Served to accompany the Som Tum. #rice #glutinousrice #delicious
PRETTY GOOD
10th SHRIMP SAMBAL NASI LEMAK
Bungkus Kaw Kaw @ Central i-city, Shah Alam
A delectable dish, but just short of a ‘Really Good’ rating! A nice sweetish, mildly spicy sambal; served up with cucumbers, peanuts, half a boiled egg and screwpine-infused coconut milk rice. Had 7-8 shrimps, which is fairly generous nowadays. But still, punches a hole in the pocket with its price for something small! #nasilemak #malaysia #fastfood #rice
11th CHICKEN RICE
Chong Kok Kopitiam, Klang
‘Simple’ is the keyword here. Served with dark soy (Klang-style) and chilli sauce (on the side). Gourmet it wasn’t, but pretty tasty it was! Served up for breakfast at one of Klang’s most popular joints!
JUST OK
12th NASI LEMAK
BSC Fine Foods, Kuala Lumpur
Good enough for a stomach filler. #nasilemak #rice #sambal
