REALLY GOOD
1st PORK NOODLES
Peter's Pork Noodle, Kuala Lumpur
Hey Oinksters, it’s wholeheartedly porky! Made with a rich pork stock, topped with mince, slices and cracklings of pork. Liver (pork, of course!) and egg can be added as optional extras. The crackling’s so good, it can stay crisp (for awhile) despite being submerged in the soup! Porkalicious! One may have died and gone to pork heaven! #porkalicious #noodles #noodlesoup
2nd KUEH CHAP (PORK NOODLES)
The Kueh Chap Stall, Thailand
Hey Oinksters! Stumbled across this wonderful little stall during a walkabout in Chinatown. It’s found at a crisscross of alleyways, where people and Vespas go about their business. The few tables which they had were rammed with customers. Had to stop and observe... It’s a Thai-style Kueh Chap (Origin: Teochew/Chiu Chow Pork Parts Noodles) stall. Had the simplified version, only with roast pork & crackling and broad rice noodles! Garnished with bean sprouts, coriander and Chinese parsley. The broth was deliciously rich and, of course, flavoursome! The pork was lightly seasoned, succulent and tasty; the crackling had a fine crunch and stayed crisp despite being sat in the soup! Not one for offal, but the roast pork alone is porkalicious and as a simple pork noodle dish... delicious! Happy to have found it! Opening hours: 0830-1600 #porkalicious #noodles #noodlesoup
3rd LECHON MAMI (ROAST PORK NOODLES)
Arquiza Street Pares and Mami, Manila
Really decent street food! Simple, small and delectable. Tasty pork and stock. Stock was salty, but that was all it was. Would certainly have it again, were I to be in Manila! #lechon #roastpork #noodles #yellownoodles #streetfood #manila #philippines
PRETTY GOOD
4th WONTON NOODLE SOUP
Restoran Kar Hing Wanton Mee, Klang
It’s an all-round pretty good one! #wontonnoodles #noodles #wonton #soup
5th ‘LONGEVITY’ NOODLES
HAO XIANG CHI SEAFOOD (KLANG) SDN BHD, Klang
These ‘longevity’ noodles were, in fact, wonton egg noodles which were served in a light soup base and topped with a stir-fried combination of chicken strips, shiitake mushrooms, Chinese chives and bean sprouts. Pretty good! #noodles
6th FISH BALL NOODLE SOUP
Restoran Moon Chew 満洲茶餐室, Klang
It’s actually a stall in a coffee shop. A nice bowl of broad rice noodles, served with pork slices, steamed chicken, fishballs, fishcake and lettuce. The soup was tasty, but a tad salty. The fishballs and fishcake were fresh and soft - rather well made! This one makes a decent bowl of comfort food! #noodles #ricenoodles #pork #chicken #fishball #fishcake #soup
7th BEEF NOODLE SOUP
光记牛肉筋丸粉, Bentong
A bowl of Beef noodles (egg and broad rice) with beef balls and mince. The stock is flavourful, however, the taste of the egg noodles were a little floury and the broad rice ones were a little too firm. That said, a satisfactory dish for breakfast! (The second image is with tripe!) #noodles
8th BROWN RICE MISUA WITH GINGER EXTRACT
Simple Life Healthy Vegetarian Restaurant - Sunway Putra Mall, Kuala Lumpur
This dish is from a chain of vegetarian eateries. A well-portioned and decent bowl of noodles (aka Mee Sua / Wheat Flour Noodles) which had salubrious ingredients! The soup was flavourful, albeit a little salty. Topped off with fresh ginger extract to add a little ‘kick’. A bit of a hefty price tag to go with it too! #noodles #vegetarian
JUST OK
9th PORK NOODLE SOUP (SET)
Mr YouTiao, Singapore
This Noodle Soup came in a set with a fried Dough Stick (You Tiao) and a brewed Coffee. The yellow noodles were of the ‘instant’ variety and was served with minced pork, black fungus, an egg and choy sum. The soup was own-made and was sufficiently tasty. A passable bowl of noodles in all. The dough stick was also satisfactory. As for the coffee, it was pretty good - thick and flavourful! (Not pictured however! Oops!) This was an economical set and an adequate fill; good enough for one to keep going. #noodles #coffee #doughsticks
