AMAZING
1st APUM PAAL
Love Mom Restaurant, Klang
No fuss, no frills, just good ‘home-cooked’ Southern Indian fare. This sweet is what I’m here for: a great balance of sweetness, crispness and moistness - just makes me happy! #snack #dessert
2nd ‘CHOCO BANANA SPLIT’ SUNDAE
St. Marc Café Raffles City, Singapore
This was chosen, eaten and rated by an 11-year old; unsurprisingly... ‘Amazing’! A nice variety of textures and flavours, certainly toothsome. The banana too was fresh and sweet! #sundae #dessert #sweet
3rd ‘STRAWBERRY HEAVEN’ SUNDAE
St. Marc Café Raffles City, Singapore
This was chosen, eaten and rated by an 8-year old. Kids love a sweet... ‘Amazing’ they say! Once again, an enjoyable variety of textures and flavours - only that the strawberries were frozen but somehow vaguely worked. #sundae #dessert #sweet
REALLY GOOD
4th APUM WITH BROWN SUGAR
Love Mom Restaurant, Klang
The highly delectable Apum Paal with brown sugar. A simple addition. Just sweeter. Nice!
5th KELUAK CHOCOLATE CHERRY MINI CAKE
MadHatter Desserts, Petaling Jaya
The Mad Hat generally makes extraordinarily interesting, and delicious mini cakes. This, however, is a more down-to-Earth piece and nevertheless as good as any other. Finely balanced in all aspects. Have your cake and eat it! #cake #dessert #chocolate #cherry #sweet
6th RASPBERRY, ROSE & LYCHEE MINI MOUSSE CAKE
MadHatter Desserts, Petaling Jaya
Raspberry mousse, rose & lychee ganache, raspberry jelly & sponge cake. Not the biggest fan of raspberries, lychees and rose, but the combination of the three works well in this arrangement. As with avant-garde, there will always be praisers and detractors. Another good one. #raspberry #lychee #rose #cake #mousse #dessert #unusual #art #gastronomy
7th DECONSTRUCTED PAVLOVA
Naj & Belle Megah Rise, Petaling Jaya
A well-made pavlova with passion fruit, strawberries, blueberries and sprinkles. Plenty of sweeten cream (perhaps sweeten with condensed milk). Good and rich! #pavlova #meringue #dessert #sweet
9th MALACCAN PALM SUGAR SAGO (SAGO GULA MELAKA)
Restoran Tanjung Bunga, Petaling Jaya
A simple dessert. Tapioca sago with coconut milk and Malacca palm sugar. It is truly good when served with the freshest and highest-quality ingredients. Once in the mouth and fused... Yyyummm! This one wasn’t bad. #dessert
JUST OK
10th MANGO, POMELO & SAGO PUDDING WITH MANGO ICE CREAM
Sweet Hut Bandar Botanic, Klang
This should have been a good dessert, but turned out to be sub-par. However, this wasn’t the worst thing, what my friends had instead were really inadequate. They were poorly made and with low-quality ingredients. Furthermore, these were high-priced desserts which made them even more unacceptably pathetic! So disappointing, even some of the pictures have left the walls! Ouch! #dessert
