#L’Appartement4F is the home of Gautier & Ashley, where Gautier bakes bread, croissants & cookies. I ordered this bâtard one month ago. It was worth the wait! Crusty outside & soft & chewy inside with lovely air pockets. Very flavorful, too! Only a few more months until their storefront bakery supported by a successful Kickstarter campaign opens on Montague St., nearby. I’m happy to have contributed.
I love this moist, crumbly bread pudding, where the fresh, sweet kernels burst in my mouth. To me it’s amazing just cause I love it so much, but it’s maybe not gourmet enough for that category. It’s a good solid down-home cross between corn bread & pudding.
Super soft & fresh bread, especially the pumpernickel (called something else, but I can’t find it on the menu), especially with the amazingly fresh sweet butter, chunky salt & white onions for contrast.
It’s a blend of Sherpard’s grain & Roger’s unbleached fours, then rolled in poppy, sesame & fennel seeds. The bread alone is yeasty & tasty, but with those seeds, it is so flavorful! I love the little crunches. For the best experience it has to be eaten on the day it was purchased.
Excellent flavor! Fresh texture. I loved the olive oil that came with it. The roasted garlic & herb was a nice touch. Artistic arrangement, don’t ya think?!
