1st BÁNH MI CHAY | VIETNAMESE SANDWICH - VEGETARIAN

Chef Doris Ho-Kane makes all ingredients from scratch, including the bread & seitan! That in itself is impressive, but the flavors themselves are so delicious & typical banh mi flavors of pâté, etc. Delicious mayo & spicy sauces. Fresh veggies. I love that she is generous with the cilantro! My only disappointment was that the bread was not crispy. However, I didn’t eat it for about 20 minutes with it being wrapped after I walked home in the humidity, so I’ll reheat the second half & I’m imagining it will crisp up!

Vegetarian steamed bun. Tasty light & airy dough filled with trumpet & wood ear mushrooms, seitan, jicama & onion. Chef Doris Hokane has such a lovely delicate touch. The most feminine steamed bun I ever had!☺️

It was really, really good! That bread was so crunchy on the outside & warm & soft inside. The crispy wild perch was flakey & tasty. It came with house made mayo, cucumber, cilantro, jalapeños, pickled carrot and daikon. A great combination of fresh, crunchy & cool ingredients. Sweet dreams are made of these...

All the traditional bahn mi ingredients. Bread was light, warm & crusty. I asked for mild & it had just a touch of spice, which is what I asked for. It was fine. Maybe if the carrots & cilantro were more spread out, I would’ve rated it higher. Fresh ingredients, though. I do like a denser baguette.
