REALLY GOOD
1st CALAMARI
Casa Bianca, Abergavenny
Had heard good things from this place, and the calamari really was on point. The shape was a bit odd but didn’t change the taste and the taste was amazing. Unlike Pizza Express they added tartar sauce which is appreciated. #Foodreview #Calamari
2nd FRIED CALAMARI
The Lobster Shack, North Berwick
Fresh, fried, delicious. Everything I want in calamari. The squid was perfectly tender and the batter was crunchy and seasoned. Paired with a tangy, creamy sauce to dip in. #Foodreview #Calamari
3rd FRIED CALAMARI
Fish House Taverna, Kos
Super fresh and tender calamari coated in a crisp, delicate batter. It came with fried baby octopus which were a really nice aspect to the dish and crispy potatoes. #Calamari #Foodreview #Greekfood
PRETTY GOOD
4th CALAMARI
Bistrot Pierre - Mumbles Swansea, Mumbles
Somewhat Crispy Calamari! Flavour and overall texture really not that bad, I have had calamari from all around so as you can imagine it just doesn’t come quite as close as the rest. The batter was decently crispy and the squid itself was somewhat tender, overall a basic calamari that gets the job done, especially when paired with the citrusy mayonnaise!
5th CALAMARI
Pizza Express, Cardiff
In terms of flavour, I thought the calamari was a little lacklustre with not a lot of seasoning, however not really any fishy, briny flavours which is nice. The batter wasn’t like usual calamari I have had with it definitely being more flaky and crumbly, finally the sauce was only mayonnaise which I’m not a fan of. Would definitely prefer some sort of spicy marinara sauce. Not terrible but not perfect either. #Foodreview #Calamari
