AMAZING
1st DEER CARPACCIO, BEEF TARTARE AND FOIE GRAS
67 Étterem, Székesfehérvár
Ok, I know Sam spotted this already real time, but we each got this as a starter (that's right #NOSHARE) so here's MY plate. I started with the carpaccio, which melted in my mouth. Then went on to the silken foie gras with just the right amount of Maldon sea salt sprinkled on top, and a mango purée and a tomato purée next to it. Finished the plate with the hand cut beef tartare, perfect with onions, capers and grainy mustard. No egg in it. Amazing.
2nd SMALL MIXED COLD APPETIZER PLATE
Sahara's, New York
1500th shot, woohoo! This plate was delicious! Clockwise from top: ezme (spicy mashed vegetables w walnuts, garlic, paprika, evoo, & lemon juice). Soslu Patlican (chopped eggplant in slightly spicy sauce of tomatoes, green peppers & garlic). Eggplant salad w peppers, parsley & lemon juice. Stuffed vine leaves w rice, pine nuts & currants. Cacik, cucumbers blended w garlic yogurt, dill & mint. Hummus. And lastly, babaganoush: char grilled eggplant purée w tahini, garlic, evoo & lemon. All amazing, even if I had to eat them with boring matzoh! :)
PRETTY GOOD
3rd MIXED APPETIZERS
Charrúa, New York
Grilled calamari, avocado and hearts of palm salad and meatballs. Considering the fact that the food at most places that offer a bottomless brunch is usually mediocre, I was very happy with the starters at this restaurant. Hot and flavorful and Uruguayan cuisine is pretty new for me.
