Marina's main course (she and I split our mains). Wonderfully delicate, served with potatoes and an herb vinaigrette.
2nd SARDINE TOAST

These delicious briny sardines were on top of a rich, chunky garlicky tomato, on top on wonderful bread.
3rd HOLLAND HERRING
Russ & Daughters Cafe, New York
Served with cornichons and sweet onions. Great vinegar bite.
4th CRISPY SPEARING FISH
Il Pesce, New York
These are tiny bait fish fried up, that you eat whole. Similar to shiners. They were perfectly fried right in front of me, served on top of a lemony arugula salad and with a spicy Calabrian pepper aioli. Yum.
