AMAZING
1st XIAO LONG BAO
The Bao, New York
What they're famous for...pork and crabmeat steamed soup dumplings. These were the best version I've ever had! The skin was translucent, it was so thin. The filling actually tasted strongly (in the best possible way) of crabmeat. The broth was rich and fatty. Seriously the BEST.
2nd MIGHTY VEGGIE DUMPLINGS AND THE MIMI CHENG DUMPLINGS
Mimi Cheng's Dumplings, New York
Panfried all the way #keepitcrispy. The veggie ones are actually delicious! Filled with kale, zucchini, egg and shiitake mushroom. I got the Mimi Cheng for the second half of my order. Chicken and zucchini. Great thin skins, freshly made as I waited. My only complaint is that it's $10 for eight dumplings and I could easily eat 24 dumplings but my wallet won't let me. Here you're paying for freshness and organic ingredients.
3rd PANFRIED PORK & SHRIMP POT STICKERS
Dinesty Dumpling House, Vancouver
So I had a couple hours to kill in Vancouver before my friend shows up and decided I needed 2nd breakfast/1st lunch. These are a combo of pork and shrimp (there's even a little shrimp tail on each one) with a thin but slightly chewy skin. Yum and worth the 20 minute wait it takes for them to do each order fresh!
4th SHRIMP SHUMAI
Sobaya, New York
These were very large shumai dumplings with a strange loose noodle exterior. Strange but delicious with lots of steamed shrimp in them.
