AMAZING
1st YELLOW GINGER CHICKEN
Thai Express, Malé
This was the spiciest dish on the menu and the volcano in my mouth is still lingering delightfully
2nd SRI LANKAN PUMPKIN CURRY
Aïoli Restaurant, Malé
#delicious this is ‘just’ a vegetarian curry but it is the best curry I’ve eaten anywhere. One to remember!
3rd THAI RED CURRY
City Garden, Malé
This was in all honesty one of the best Thai Green Curries I've ever had. I like it when it isn't too heavy and creamy. This time they got it just right. There were tender morsels of fish and perfectly cooked thai aubergines, lots of kafir lime leafes and sweet basil all in the perfectly balanced curry sauce. Well you could almost call it curry soup, but that's how it's best, I believe.
3rd THAI RED CURRY
City Garden, Malé
The Thai Food here is so good!
5th BEEF RENDANG

This Rendang, courtesy of @furfelbear , who kindly provided me with the cooking sauce turned out super delicious. Thank you Furfy 🙏
7th FISH MASALA

The faratha bread is the best!
7th FISH MASALA
Beer & Spice, Port Louis
This was very good, the paratha or as they call it faratha was particularly good with it.
REALLY GOOD
10th LAMB CURRY
Jana‘s Home, uk
Yesterday we had a whole spit roasted lamb for a birthday gathering. I transformed some of the leftovers into this rustic curry. It turned out quite delicious.
11th THAI RED CURRY
Thai On Yonge, Toronto
The aroma and taste were spot on, But the choice of vegetables was not my favourite. carrots maybe just, but bell peppers nah. Although to be fair they weren’t bad, just not my bag 😉
13th PRAWN THAALI
Mystic Masala Snack Bar, Port Louis
A great little family run outdoor place with good and cheap Indian fayre
14th CHICKEN AND PRAWN CURRY
Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel, Port Louis
It’s just room service but as always the faratha bread is the star of the show
16th SEAFOOD CURRY
El Avion, Aguirre
It was coconut based and had Thai basil in it. Tasty in a kind of Thai curry way.
17th FISH CURRY WITH AUBERGINE
Mon Choisy Beach R. - Apart'Hotel, Trou-aux-Biches
The curry was ok, but the location and the fact that they put a table and chairs anywhere you like, (in my case under a little tree, right on the beach) made it special.
20th CURRY PRAWNS
Namaste Restaurant, Port Louis
I tasted some of my colleagues food and every dish tasted completely different and really delicious. This is a prawn curry with lovely coriander flavour.
21st PANANG BEEF CURRY
PAI, Toronto
Yet again not spicy enough for me, but actually delicious if you like a mild red Thai curry
22nd MAURITIAN CURRY
Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel, Port Louis
Chicken and prawn curry, which was nice, but fairly mild in flavour. I love the variety of chutneys and condiments. But the best was the flaky paratha bread. I don't think I've had better anywhere else. I forgot to ask the chef for his secret to getting them so fluffy and flaky. Next time....
PRETTY GOOD
24th INDIAN MEAL
Namaste Restaurant, Port Louis
Sharing a variety of Indian dishes, including chicken makhani, karai chicken, mutton rogan josh, two kinds of dhal, rice and naan. Very tasty.
25th LAMB SALI
Zarda Cottage, Yalding
I've not seen this dish before on a menu, so I was keen to try it. The description said: tender pieces of lamb tikka cooked with garlic and chilli, served with fresh spinach and a naga bhuna sauce. Very spicy. Garnished with a grating of fried potato..... Unfortunately it was just really dry and not spicy at all. Not one bit. Nada. No likey.
26th BEEF VINDALOO
Aïoli Restaurant, Malé
They do proper good curries here
27th OCTOPUS VINDAYE
Le Suffren Hotel & Marina, Port Louis
This is a typical Mauritian dish. I think it's the first time I have found something authentic. I began to think that Mauritius didn't really have a local cuisine. It's a nice fusion of the different cultures that have left their influence here. Mustard, onions, turmeric, chillies and many more spices came together to make a very tasty dish. Served also with it, a little lentil soup. The pineapple and melon salsa on the side was also a perfect match. Loved it!
