REALLY GOOD
1st ITALIAN TUNA MELT
Lardo, Portland
As usual, this sandwich meets the mark. I ordered it with a side of Lardo fries... because, who doesn't love fries with their sandwich.
2nd ITALIAN TUNA MELT
Lardo, Portland
Tuna with provolone cheese, olive tapenade, and shaved fennel topped with fresh greens.
4th BRATWURST SLIDERS
Gordon Biersch, San Francisco
Märzen beer simmered bratwurst, pretzel rolls, carmelized onions & Märzen mustard. These were actually pretty good. The pretzel rolls were soft and the brats were grilled just right.
6th SLIDER TRIO
Aji Tram, Lake Oswego
Our order included 1-bulgogi beef slider with kimchi & wasabi aioli, and 2-bahn mi sliders with spicy aioli & Vietnamese pickled veggies.
PRETTY GOOD
8th THE ITALIAN
Pastry Art Bakery Cafe, Sarasota
This sandwich is loaded with salami, ham, some diced tomatoes and onions, plus jalapenos. Then the sandwich was warmed in a panini oven.
9th ITALIAN SANDWICH
Ram's Head Bar, Government Camp
Salami, ham, pepperoni, provolone cheese, tomato, banana peppers, shredded lettuce, drizzled with black garlic aioli. Served on a hoagie roll with pasta salad. Overall okay, but a bit salty for my taste... Most likely due to the meats.
JUST OK
10th NEW YORKER
Ben & Esther's Vegan Delicatessen, Portland
As the name of this place suggests... It's vegan. It's meh. The vegan corned beef was over cooked so the entire sandwich was dry. The vegan swiss worked... And the marbled rye bread was good too. My wife ordered their Benny's brisket and the vegan brisket was much better. I should have ordered that one too. Their service was slow... But they did have a continuous stream of takeout orders too.
