“Shallot, garlic, chili, butter, Grana Padano cheese, zucchini, local smoked duck, cherry tomatoes, lemon, tobiko, spring onion, coriander.”
Favourite of the day. Spicy and umami!
“Free range kampung egg, pecorino, grana padano, black pepper & beef panceta”
No cream 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼. Too many restaurants here try to make carbonara using cream and that’s a no-go in my books. Also if you noticed, each dish is topped with different microgreens which they supposedly grow themselves. The server will explain what they are and their benefits as your dish is served. Nice touch!
This may not look like much, but it’s actually packed with flavour! The lady boss prepares most of the food here and you can really tell that she puts a lot of love into her cooking. If I’m not mistaken I think the cafe makes their own kimchi as well as they want to guarantee that everything is halal.
Salted duck egg, duck breast, duck bacon. Duck, duck, duck. The pasta on its own was a bit on the bland side, but mix it up with the salty duck bacon and it'll be perfect. The duck breast was nice and pink and juicy. Maybe too big a portion though. This was on WhupWhup's fourth day of operation, so I'm guessing there will still be some tweaking made to their menu. ~ "Kan gua duck cakap gua havoc."
Topped with an onsen egg. Sauce could be silkier but that didn’t really seem to affect the taste. In fact it was so rich we wondered how one person could have finished the whole portion. For once I’m glad we opted to share 😂.
“Matcha fettuccine in pesto with fresh egg yolk, toasted panko, parmesan and rocket leaves”
Tasty, but we felt that the pasta was a wee bit under. It will not stop us from returning to Rebel Pasta though as we tasted enough to make us want to come back for more. Go early, the place does get crowded.
Mixed seafood and spaghetti in a hearty tomato sauce baked in foil. Tasty, but the general consensus during dinner was the food standard seemed to have dropped a little. It's still good and comforting but missing some pizzazz. Or fairy dust.
Wasn’t half bad, but when the description said “Dark chocolate beef brisket stew” I expected something richer and thicker. This had flavour no doubt, but could have been so much better.
I honestly was not expecting much but WOW this dish was a punch in the face with flavours. Sour and slightly sweet with all the typical Thai additions like shallots, lemongrass, Thai basil and cut chilies, you can’t help but to keep digging in. Like a Thai salad but with spaghetti! Be warned though... it’s really spicy 🌶🌶🌶.
“Marinated NZ lamb with lemon rind, sliced black olives, herbs and garlic in white wine and olive oil.” ~ It’s ok. The lamb was tasty and there was a decent amount of it. Plating was a little sloppy though, lol! Also, this place is super dim and really not that good for taking photographs. Samsung phones will probably fare better than iPhones 😂.
Chicken breast tenderloins sautéed with roasted red peppers, sun-dried tomatoes and ziti pasta in a rich and creamy smoked mozzarella cheese sauce. Nah.
