AMAZING
1st 'MAO SHAN WANG' DURIAN MOONCAKE
Goodwood Park Hotel, Singapore
The best durian mooncake I've had so far. It's like they just took the fruit and wrapped it up with the crystal skin. The price is a little scary for us Malaysians though. But damn, that mooncake was delectable.
REALLY GOOD
2nd BROWN SUGAR TEA AU LAIT MOONCAKE
7-Eleven Puchong Perdana, Puchong
When TeaLive first released these I was intrigued but didn’t get them as I thought they were slightly overpriced. They showed up later at my local 7-Eleven at a lower price and I snapped them up. I was all ready to write it off as gimmicky but was rather quite surprised at how much I enjoyed them. Loved the aromatic brown sugar lava, and the chewy pearls were a fun addition too! I still don’t think I would pay full price for them though as they are smaller than the regular mooncakes.
4th DURIAN LOTUS PASTE MOONCAKE WITH 1 YOKE
Foh San Restaurant, Ipoh
Light durian flavour, mild enough that it won’t give you durian breath. Quite decent. Available online and at selected supermarkets as well.
5th PIGGY BISCUIT
Yik Chia Kuih Enterprise 钰佳蒲种糕点, Puchong
Seasonal item for the Mid-Autumn Festival. These cute little biscuits are sold in their pig cages and were a favourite of mine when I was a child. Now that I’m *slightly* older, I buy them simply for the nostalgia. To be honest they’re not exceptionally tasty but they are nice with a cup of hot tea. Will I repurchase? Yes. Yes, I will 😊.
