AMAZING
1st PUDI DOSA
MTR, Kuala Lumpur
“A thick rice and black gram crepe topped with chutney powder and spiced potatoes, served with chutney and lentil sambar” ~ I predict that after I’ve gone thru the entire menu at MTR, this will still be one of my favourite items there. The spongy dosa soaks up all that delicious ghee while the chutney powder adds a bit of heat and dimension to the dosa. The crisp edges were delicious too and provided a nice contrast to the otherwise soft crepe. Will definitely reorder this one!
2nd MASALA DOSA
MTR, Kuala Lumpur
“Rice & black gram crepe stuffed with spiced potatoes, laced with ghee, and served with green chutney and lentil sambar” ~ Oh. Em. Ghee. GHEE!!! First off, I have to admit I was skeptical of this place when my sis-in-law mentioned it to me. I eat a lot of Indian food and rarely does something knock my socks off. This came really, really close. The dosa itself was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside and already delicious on its own. The potatoes were nicely done as well. Both the chutney and sambar are good too but I hardly needed it as the dosa and potatoes were good enough for me. I’m so sorry for doubting you, SIL. I owe you a meal at MTR!
REALLY GOOD
3rd PALAK GHEE MASALA THOSAI
Thosai Cafe, Petaling Jaya
Crispy thosai made with semolina and a few other “secret ingredients” stuffed with potato masala, spinach and a host of other vegetables. Very flavourful, very good. Great service too!
4th TOMATO CHEESE SADA
Thosai Cafe, Petaling Jaya
This place makes thosai (or dosa) unlike anyone else. And with more than 70 varieties available, you’re spoilt for choice. Still not feeling the menu? Or undecided perhaps? Speak to the boss. He’ll whip up something for you based on your preference. Great food, great service.
5th PANEER MYSORE MASALA THOSAI
Thosai Cafe, Petaling Jaya
“Homemade cottage cheese with potato masala, fresh veggies and freshly grated beetroot” It’s a big serving so I would recommend sharing if you’re a small eater. By big I mean they don’t bother serving your thosai on a plate. The thosai here is served on a tray 😅. This one is a flavour bomb. A party in your mouth. I would love to order this again but I still have 68 more items to try.
6th ONION CHEESE THOSAI
Thosai Cafe, Petaling Jaya
This humble container cafe serves 70 different types of thosai. 70! It would take me a long time to try every single item they serve. No complaints though. The food here is good. But please have a bit of patience if you do decide to dine here as each thosai is made to order and takes time to cook.
7th MASALA THOSAI
The Ganga Café @ Sea Park, Petaling Jaya
Dosa stuffed with a very nicely done aloo masala. Worth a repeat order.
8th BEETROOT THOSAI
The Ganga Café @ Sea Park, Petaling Jaya
Made with lots of ghee, which is always nice. Also, how pretty is that colour? 😍
9th GHEE THOSAI
Original Kayu @ SS2, Petaling Jaya, Petaling Jaya
Lots of ghee, very fattening but very good. Do let them know if you want an unsweetened version!
