French toast, yuzu curd, vanilla and olive oil ice cream, mandarin, matcha soil, meringue. Absolutely to die for!!!
2nd CREME BRÛLÉE FRENCH TOAST
Valet, Cabramatta
This was sooooo good! There was vanilla ice cream hidden in between the 2 pieces of French Toast. Absolutely delicious! I love this cafe!!! Can’t wait to go back! So much deliciousness in Sydney. *sigh*
3rd LITTLE LOST BREAD
Devon Cafe, Surry Hills
With pineapple, coconut ice cream. Delicious!
5th TORRIJA
Bar del Pla, Barcelona
With Catalan cream ice cream
7th BRIOCHE FRENCH TOAST
Wildflour Café + Bakery Rada, Makati
Surprisingly light. Not sure I can finish one by myself though.
8th FRENCH TOAST
MELBA Vulcan, Auckland
I had to have it again before flying back to Wellington. Just perfectly done.
8th FRENCH TOAST
MELBA Vulcan, Auckland
Oh hallelujah, the French toast was perfect for me! Not soggy and had a good bite. The lemon tahini syrup wasn’t for me and the dish didn’t really need it. The bacon could be better though but top marks for making it crispy as requested. I hope the chef here can share their secret with other cooks/cafes 😜. Thank goodness this is between work and the hotel. I’ll definitely be back again for breakfast tomorrow.
10th FRENCH TOAST
Aro Cafe, Wellington
Plus points because of the variety of fruit underneath the bacon. There was kiwifruit, strawberries, poached pears, blueberries, blackberries, banana. ☺️
REALLY GOOD
12th FRENCH TOAST, MAPLE MASCARPONE, GRILLED BANANA
Liberty Restaurant, Wellington
Sadly the bacon wasn’t crispy enough for me but the French toast was really good. It wasn’t soggy at all.
13th FRENCH TOAST
Caffe L'affare, Wellington
New on the menu. Served with lemon curd (I reckon it was spread on very sparingly 😔), meringue and cream. The brioche French toast was cooked nicely with crisp edges that I love. It was missing something to give it an oomph. Also not sure if it was worth $19.
14th FRENCH TOAST
Egmont Street Eatery, Wellington
With poached fruit, caramel brittle, side of crispy bacon. Delicious!
15th BRIOCHE FRENCH TOAST, STRAWBERRY RHUBARB COMPOTE, GINGER ANGLAISE AND PINK PEPPER MERINGUE
Egmont Street Eatery, Wellington
I asked for the ginger anglaise to be served on the side. It was a lovely breakfast for $20.
16th FRENCH TOAST
Elements Lyall Bay, Wellington
Very happy the bacon is crispy as requested. Nicely done.
18th BRIOCHE FRENCH TOAST
FRANK'S Terrace, Wellington
With bacon, banana and apple maple. I prefer the berry compote option.
18th BRIOCHE FRENCH TOAST
FRANK'S Terrace, Wellington
Still nice but I miss the little bit of honeycomb. It wasn’t there today.
18th BRIOCHE FRENCH TOAST
FRANK'S Terrace, Wellington
I haven’t been to this cafe for a while and I don’t know if they changed chefs. I loved today’s French Toast. It’s the same recipe but executed perfectly for me.
20th MISS PEACHY'S FRENCH TOAST
Meet Gerard, Alexandria
Peach, ricotta, whey caramel, nine spice crumble. Delicious!!!
21st STRACIATELLA, POACHED TAMARILLO, MANDARIN CURD, FRIED MILK BREAD
Williams Eatery, Auckland
I ordered it with a side of bacon. I realised I’m not a fan of thick cut bacon that is not cooked like they used to at Prefab.
23rd BRIOCHE FRENCH TOAST
Dish Restaurant, Melbourne
Served with bananas, dulce de leche, macadamia crumble and creme fraiche. I thought it wouldn’t be sweet enough for me but it was fine. Just the right amount of everything and I finished the whole dish.
