REALLY GOOD
1st HAKE WITH PUMPKIN AND ORANGE
Restaurant Soléna, Bordeaux
With beurre blanc. Heaven on a plate! It was perfectly cooked fish and perfect balance of flavours. Loved this dish!
3rd BUTTERFISH WITH CAULIFLOWER CREAM
Ortega, Wellington
Fish with cauliflower cream, butter-poached Parkvale mushrooms, capers, chickpeas, curry leaf and Fantail Grove hazelnuts. Delicious!
5th COD FISH, BEANS, FETA
La Condesa, Paris
Had to show two pictures because the fish arrived wrapped in the leaf. I'm not generally a big fan of beans but this was great. The fish had a Mexican herb crust (epazote).
7th COD WITH SOY CREAM SAUCE
Le Bistro du Musée restaurant Bordeaux, Bordeaux
The amazing-ness of this dish is the sauce in that little pot. I don't know how they did it but it was unbelievably delicious! I almost wanted to drink the stuff!
9th KINGFISH CRUDO
Boulcott Street Bistro Restaurant, Wellington
This is another chef collaboration that’s part of #WOAP. Chef Edoardo Jordan from Seattle teamed up with one of my favourites Chef Rex Morgan. This first course was deeelicious!
10th PAN FRIED SNAPPER
Havana Bar, Wellington
With housemade udon, seaweed XO, baby leeks, spring onion and chilli. Delicious.
11th FISH WING
HIAKAI, Wellington
Snack #4 and this was amazing. I wish I recorded what was in it. I’ll try to email the restaurant and update this post later. 7 more courses to go!
14th PAN FRIED MARKET FISH
Pomelo Kitchen & Bar, Wellington
Loved this. Would happily order again. The fish was tarakihi.
16th PAN FRIED FISH ON POMEGRANATE
Marine Parade Eatery, Paraparaumu
With avocado, Apple, mint, freekah, grilled asparagus
17th COBIA
Supernormal, Melbourne
With pickled fennel, yuzu and chilli
18th SMOKED SARDINE WITH AJO BLANCO
Suculent, Barcelona
My first time to taste ajo blanco which is a garlic, vinegar, bread and almond sauce. Really delicious!
19th WHITEBAIT
Chameleon Restaurant, Wellington
It’s back on the menu! Whitebait with asparagus, shoestring fries, tomatoes. Yum!
20th HAPUKA, EGGPLANT, CAULIFLOWER
Moxhe Restaurant, Bronte
With crustacean sauce, almond, tuscan vegetable
22nd MARKET FISH, CHARGRILLED BROCCOLINI, ALMOND
Shed 5, Wellington
With saffron, fennel, celeriac, shiso. The main course as part of 3-course set menu promotion. Beautifully done.
24th WHITING
L'Arcane, Paris
With smoked eel pieces
26th PAN FRIED MARKET FISH
Boulcott Street Bistro Restaurant, Wellington
John Dory, with parsnip purée, asparagus, preserved lemon butter. Nice!
28th STEAMED FISH
Mr Lei, Mascot
I was too slow taking a photo and the server took out the main bone already. Last family meal before we fly back to Wellington tomorrow. The fish was Murray Cod.
29th PAN FRIED FLOUNDER
Ortega, Wellington
Simple dish done well with brown butter and hazelnuts.
