REALLY GOOD
1st DONUT BENE
Caffe L'affare, Wellington
I was getting impatient waiting for a table when it’s only just after 7am. There were lots of people queuing for takeaways and I realised they were selling doughnuts! More on that later. I didn’t know this dish was on offer so I was keen to try it. I really enjoyed it.
5th EGGS ROYALE
Seashore Cabaret, Lower Hutt
It’s called Eggs Benedict on their menu and you choose if you’d like ham, bacon, smoked salmon or spinach. I chose smoked salmon but maybe I should’ve chosen bacon... This cafe is always busy (because they are good at what they do) and there’s usually a queue at the door.
6th ORA KING SALMON, POACHED EGGS
Cape Kidnappers, Hawke's Bay
There’s spinach underneath and I was surprised there was only one hashbrown underneath one egg and the other was sitting on a pile of only smoked salmon.
PRETTY GOOD
7th EGGS BENEDICT WITH SMOKED SALMON
Bethel Woods, Wellington
The potato hash were great but the kale was hard work 😂 (and I don’t have dentures!) I don’t know if they put the raw vegetable on the plate 🤔. Generous amount of food. I think it was around $20.
9th EGGS MONTREAL
Olive Restaurant, Wellington
I would’ve liked more hollandaise sauce and it needed some zing. Menu on 3rd photo. $21
9th EGGS MONTREAL
Olive Restaurant, Wellington
I like their house smoked salmon. It was mild and not too overpowering.
JUST OK
10th EGGS ROYALE
Preservatorium Cafe, Wellington
It’s eggs benedict on their menu and you can choose to have it with ham, bacon, spinach or salmon. I chose salmon this time. My Eaten app wasn’t loading so I didn’t get a chance to look up what I had last time before ordering. I shouldn’t have ordered this because the hashbrown underneath weren’t great. Overall the dish wasn’t as good as I had hoped. Very generous with the salmon though.
