"Wellington on a Plate" festival starts today. It's on until 26 Aug and this is the first burger I've tried. Adobo beef patty with bak kwa jerky, pineapple achar, confit lime mayo in a housemade milk bun, with kūmara crisps and Sriracha mayo.
Kung Fu Chicken - free range chicken, five spice, orange caramel chilli herb salad, firecracker mayo, in a yin & yang coconut and charcoal bun with popcorn chicken, chilli and kaffir like dust.
Longbush pulled pork with kimchi mayo, chilli jam, slaw, pork popcorn in a Leeds St Bakery smoked chilli bun with kimchi-salted hand cut chips. Delicious #burgerwelly #wellyonaplate
This is their #WOAP festival burger this year. Korean style sweet 'n' spicy shaved pork belly with prawn and squid croquette, pickled daikon and housemade Zany Zeus cheese sauce in an Arobake brioche bun, with crisscut potato chips. $24
The food truck Wilson BBQ has “popped” here for the summer. Top left are the pulled pork croquettes which were delicious. The top right is mac n cheese bites, also delicious. The pork ribs were a bit dry. They have espresso martini and pornstar martini on tap! I will be back for those!
Another #burgerwelly as part of the #wellyonaplate festival. This one is venison and paua patty. It was alright. It had fried egg, beetroot relish and bacon in a whole meal bun with chips.
My first WOAP burger this year. I could only eat half of it. Lots of pulled pork in there which was good. I forgot to take a photo of their festival dish which was even better. Ribs with some coffee rub. It was really good.
Someone wanted to try the #burgerwelly on offer so we went. Big hunk of chicken breast but the sauce was too vinegary. The whole dish was not balanced and I couldn't finish the meal. This reminded me why I've never been back to this restaurant after my first visit years ago. #wellyonaplate
