REALLY GOOD
1st BEEF BIBIMBAP
Seoul Salon, Wellington
Finally found a bibimbap in Wellington that I love! It wasn’t served in a hot stone bowl and the lady owner said the brass bowl is traditional. Is it true? The beef was a bit stringy but overall it was really good. Can’t wait to try other items on the menu.
2nd BIBIMBAP
Soon Grill, Paris
Yay, I had some nice bibimbap! Sadly not amazing because no crispy rice bits!
3rd AL BAP
Seoul Salon, Wellington
This was their festival dish for Wellington on a Plate (#WOAP). Three types of caviar with crab meat, pickled daikon, kimchi, sous-vide egg yolk, sweet miso, Gochujang mayonnaise, garlic butter, seaweed flakes and Shoots NZ microgreens with jeongsik sides; bossam with ssamjang; sanjeogkkochi (Korean skewer); octopus carpaccio with ponzu; chawanmushi (Japanese egg custard) with shrimp; Japchae (Korean glass noodle), and miso soup for $42.
5th BIBIMBAP AND KIMCHI
Havana Bar, Wellington
I forgot to take a photo of the kimchi because it arrived a bit later and I couldn’t stop eating this. The kimchi was absolutely fantastic!
8th BIBIMBAP
Mrs Kim's Korean Kitchen, Wellington
The beef was stringy but I think this is probably the best in Wellington. #bibimbap
9th BIBIMBAP
Legato Espresso Cafe, Wellington
This is my first time to try this cafe near my new workplace. I was told the owners are Korean. The online reviews mention this dish so I tried it today. I chose the vegetarian option and it was not bad. I’ll happily have it again next time with the beef option.
