REALLY GOOD
1st TORIGARA RAMEN
Nakamura, New York
Haven’t had a piece of actual grilled pork in my ramen and by gum it was good. Noodles were chewy in a good way and the veggies were nice. Can’t wait to go back!
2nd MAPO TOFU RAMEN
Tori Tomo Restaurant, Providence
Can’t believe I got to post this! It was such a cool thing! They do a meat and a veggie version. I opted with the veggie on a whim and wasn’t disappointed. That eggplant was melt in your mouth delish! Flavors were not crazy far off from a mapo tofu.
6th SPICY SIO RAMEN
Andante, New York
Another ramen session with my buddy before dungeons and dragons. It was a Thursday and we were planning on going at 4:30. Turns out 90% of the ramen places in Brooklyn close for an hour or two in the afternoon and open up between 5:30-6. Andante was the only place that was open. Oh and it was about 4 degrees out. We were the only ones in there and we were greeted warmly and also with patience. I was ready for to be fine with whatever came out but I really enjoyed it! The vegetables weren’t in a bland, soggy mass. The spice was a perfect level and the pork was juicy and thick. A great surprise.
8th RAMEN
TsuKuShi, New York
This comes from the secret late night menu. Normally it’s an expensive omakase place but from 10pm till like 2am it serves a small menu with really great prices. I think this ramen was like $14, a good price for Manhattan. Nothing crazy about it but really tender pork, nice chewy noodles and overall just a really satisfying late night eat!
9th SHOYU RAMEN
Kogane, New York
Really great broth and surprisingly tender meat!
12th TONKOTSU RAMEN
Ichiba, New York
Peppers and bamboo shoots had such amazing flavor! Great broth. Pork was meh.
15th ICHIRAKU RAMEN
Ippudo, New York
The broth was a little thin but flavorful and the pork was very good
16th WEST LAKE RAMEN
Ramen Thukpa, New York
Really good! Loved the spiciness and big pieces of naruto.
18th TEN ICHI RAMEN
Ten Ichi, New York
All the ingredients were super fresh, the broth was a tad bland so added some chili oil.
25th PORK KATSU RAMEN
Kogane, New York
Usually this is really good but it had a very grainy broth this time and a bit too salty.
JUST OK
27th TONKOTSU RAMEN
Tabata 2, New York
Pretty bland. Made worse by the dude passed out at a table. People might think that Times Square is the worst but it’s actually the West 30’s
