ok. Half a year ago, Mr. Carastian stayed in the Sheraton across the street. and almost begged his colleagues to go to this lovely family restaurant across the street. it didn't work, we had to suffer thru overpriced sheraton buffet breakfast (NAAAARSTY!) . this time was different. I dragged the Family 8 blocks down to this place. This was beautiful. classic. little one had this beaute of a waffle, with a GIGANTIC lump of lard (They called it butter) and some strawberries. yummers.

Little C's breakfast. Fresh made waffles, added strawberries and whipped cream. As on greedy customer wasn't even stopping at 'stealing' food from a child and took little C's order although it was clearly not his to take, the fine people of Austinos gave a home made whale shaped cookie for free.

It's time to leave the mountain and visit the picture perfect NorCal town of Santa Cruz. Right around noon it was time for a hearty brunch and we ended up in this cafe where people were cueing to get in - promising! And not disappointed! Little C decided on that gorgeous fluffy waffle with strawberries. Prepared perfectly.

Excitement - disappointment - excitement. That were the stages Mrs. Carastian went through. Excited to find a waffle with syrup on the menu (in Germany - mind you), a wee bit disappointed that it was not Denny's sized and the excitement of enjoying this perfectly made crispy golden on the outside soft and gooey on the inside sweet, slightly vanilla-y waffle. It was great.
