Seiten is Schwabian for those plump looking franks, served on a bed of delightfully sour lentil stew with spaetzle on the side. The lentils alone are a good reason to order this dish - perfection.

classic Bavarian snaudage. without casing and fine without any bigger pieces. Perfect for little Carastian as he is still not much into any meats - apart from Snaudages;-). This place has its own butcher shop.

remember how we said we would marry our butcher? well... who am I kidding, it seems to be more like a cult. He is at Maibaum. Selling the perfect grilled Bratwurst, with a side of Sauerkraut and yellow mustard at Maibaum. perfect little snack. Toni is here... we follow.

The Carastian classic before heading out into the world... Bringing a little bit of Bavaria with us- even if it is overpriced mediocre Weisswurst at the Munich airport. This was actually before our HI &CA trip.

Going to the Tierpark in Munich with the Little one and trying to catch a glimpse of the fresh Ice bear baby... nope -still inside. So we just were walking around this beautiful Zoo and had some classic Bavarian food. Schweinswürstl and Sauerkraut. Good texture on the Sausage and the Kraut was ok, but still you felt that it was just another fast foodish joint with the need to sell lots a food fast. mediocre food on a great day at the Zoo!

Wieners the way God intended.

Also on the special beer menu - this lovely local made bratwurst with a dark beer reduction and small side salad. Mrs. C thought it had too much caraway, but Mr. C loved it.

We were pleasantly surprised by their 'family month' offer - where kids eat free! This photo was taken by the youngest FS in the family...

a classic Bavarian dish. A thick slice of Leberkäs, pan fried with a fried egg (porn) fried to perfection. ahhhh... tasty wonderful and great with beer. or in this case -for the little one a a dinner.

Tastily grilled over open fire for that delicious smoky touch, this snaudage was a big winner for little C - until it came time for choosing the condiment. Only CURRY KETCHUP!! What the wha?! Little C stomped off in disgust with a naked bratwurst...

Little C opted for some Bavarian/American fusion - Wieners (or as Austrian's call it Frankfurter) and French fries. We liked how the cut the Wieners like Octopus ;-)

You can't survive on Radi and Brez'n alone - so a nice batch of home made Sauerkraut, silky, with a great balanced flavor of sour and sweet. Throw on some Snaudage and you have a happy Mr. and little Carastian.

Gigantic portion. Ok quality.
