Mr. C foolishly ordered "HOT" but took it like an adult. This fresh dish was spicy and crunchy - with some slightly tough beef - but overall the dish was delicious and very, very HOT.

Beautifully paired with these crunchy little exotic delights (Apple Bananas...? AWESOME!) was a crunchy salad of green apples, dried cranberry and macadamia nuts. A fun little starter... slighter bigger portion than expected, which is always a plus!

what a fine plate for 9 EUR. Generous helping of mixed green lettuce, some bell pepper, cucumber, tomatoes and Mr. Carastian's favorite Veg - Fatty, tasty smoky Speck (to be seen in the shot), some smoked trout filet, some cheese. ahhhh...

A day off, 22 C - in March (sorry my dear friends in the eternal winter of the US of A...) this is the true Himmel der Bayern... Beautiful view, good beer, good food... This time their House Salad for Mr. Carastian. Perfectly smoked trout, freshly shaved horseradish and yes some greens and Tomatoes.

Mrs. Carastian's choice. and yes , my fellow food spotters , your keen eyes already found out that something is missing! And no, it is not MORE truffles ;-). the Salad was advertised as salad with duckbreast and truffle vinaigrette. somehow Mrs. Carastian ended up with a bunch of truffles and then they threw on some smoked duckbreast. How much you ask? Well - they charged 8.80EUR.

At the wedding dinner we were treated to such little lovely 'flying hor'deuvres' as these tomato salads and couscous salad - as well as organic beef filet, skewer grilled shrimps and grilled cheese for the mains (sorry but the pics didn't come out). The couscous was the clear winner out of all that we tried (they had 6 different ones) with it's spicy and sweet combination of raison, curry and chickpeas. Throw in on gorgeous view from the rooftop location and you've got a fab wedding party!

Mr. C went with a mixed salad for his lunch starter - classic, no muss or fuss, just fresh colorful veggies to get the party started!

Mrs. C's starter - a lively little salad of fresh tomatoes, overly aggressive (or maybe just sliced to thick) red onion and herbs. Light and breezy!

Great plate of salad (not spectacular, but great) with nice slices of fresh garlic bread, goat cheese, white asparagus and toasted pine nuts.

A light and tasty Greek Salad - perfect on this first hot day of the year. Sometimes simple is best.

Business class Food on a Short flight to AMS. Gotta say not bad grub that actually helps to cope with flying out on a Sunday. Salad was nice and fresh served on real china.

Mrs. C's salad was a bit bolder.... featuring a gorgeous hunk of grilled goat cheese with a crispy bottom that was to die for! Perfect honey/pomegranate dressing.

The obvious choice for an Alsatian restaurant... Greek Salad! It was really well made, though, so Mr. C was allowed to veer off target.

Mrs. C got the 3 course lunch menu - starting with this lovely fresh salad. Granted, the chicken was a little on the boring and unseasoned side, but when you scooped it up on a bite of that flavor-drenched salad - winning!

Now this is how a side salad SHOULD look! Lots of fresh leafies, 3 different types of sprouts and lightly dressed with a tarragon-based creamy dressing.

Dinner's starter - some deconstructed Cesar salad with a GIGANTIC crouton (efficient) and some (too few) leaves. the flavors were spot on.

Nice little salad, with not only the usual suspects of green lettuce, tomato and cucumber but nice arugula, some carrots, and frisee as well. throw on some good EVOO, some Aceto balsamic. all is well -and Mr. Carastian had a nice meal

Such a simple yet beautiful (side) dish. Made with rich, silky EVOO, perfect crunchy bite sized cucumber, tomatoes, great Olives and Feta. doesn't need much but boy oh boy can other places F... that thing up good. Not Mr. Nikos though.

Another shot left and rescued to see the foodspotting daylight... The Greek salad that accompanied Mr Carastians fish the other day. Simple and yet such a beautiful dish. Crunchy cukes, tomatoes onion, feta herbs. Tossed in EVOO and boom... Happiness in a bowl.

Mr. Carastian's side dish - and envisaged - best side dish. But sadly, some Greek places just do watery dressing, bad oil and even worse, bad tomatoes. Not our dear NIkos. Good solid tomatoes, nice EVOO, some Kalamata Olives, cucumbers, a sliver of feta, peperoncino. The only thing that would take it up the last notch would be, if he would prepare it the same way that Mr. Carastian had it about 6 years ago in his then Restaurant. All cut to equal sized cubes. Some fresh herbs. AMAAAZEBALLS. But this one was good as well :-)

What you're looking at is an insanely priced (9,40 EUR!) but only just OK salad. The bread was an embarrassment and brought the whole quality down, which is a shame because the veggies were in good shape. This little eatery is trying to serve too many and we think the quality is taking a hit due to that expansion. Lovely outside patio area with music, though. Next time we'll stick to cocktails!

Definitely the weirdest caesar salad we've ever seen... featuring SPROUTS. Yes... sprouts. The dressing was the only classic thing about it.

The meal continues and does not get any more exciting. Iceburg lettuce, onions, bell pepper and balsamic and oil dressing. Trying to stay positive but feeling an impending doom waiting for the entrees...
