Café Tomaselli, SalzburgAnother tourist trap where the Carastians had to do a little stop over, for some medicinal spiked hot drinks. Cafe Tomaselli is an institution of Salzburg Kaffeehäuser, being a cafe since 1705 it is family Tomaselli owned for 150 years. Think of any person in History with a Salzburg connection - they were there. That is why now every tourist has to go there and the place is a well oiled machine of practiced Austrian courtesy -at an efficiency that would make Ray Kroc turn green. Mr. Carastian had a Fiaker - which is an Austrian word for a horse carriage with two horses - the predecessor of a Uber. As winters are cold and long, the coachmen enjoyed one of these between rides. Deep dark coffee, some whipped cream, served on a traditional silver tray, with water, sugar and of course a double shot of Kirschwasser (eau de vie).
